AMUL9 signs to Latex RecordsPosted on 14/12/09
Hip hop, punk and rock. You would hardly have guessed that a band with such a background would/could actually sign to an industrial music label. Well, things, they are a-changin' as Atlanta, Georgia based AMUL9 has joined Latex Records. AMUL9 refer to themselves as KMT Core and are more widely known in the overall Afro-Punk scene originally based out of New York. While the city is known mainly for mainstream Hip-Hop and R&B, AMUL9 are hard-edge rock/punk. Founded by Zoser and Bilal, Amul-9 addresses social, political, racial, and religiously taboo issues. Currently, in the studio working on their first full-length release with Miguel Scott, chief engineer and Grammy Nominated Producer at Tree Sound Studios. With the release of the coming album, Latex Records expands it's overall genres on the label. Previously, the label had released only industrial, ambient, gothic rock, darkwave, synthpop, trip-hop, and industrial rock albums.
This is the first expansion into a non-electronic based genre for the label. AMUL9 have close ties to Earl Hudson of Bad Brains whom they take much of their influence from. While expanding into new musical genres, Latex Records maintains the strong esoteric influences with this project as well. TG Mondalf of Latex Records and Zoser of AMUL9 have actually been close acquaintences for a few years and both are excited to finally be able to work together as their esoteric/mystic similarities were the initial foundation for the friendly bond.
Below is a 2009 interview with the band... More info and sounds at www.myspace.com/amul999 and www.latexrecords.com .
