Orchis record new album and re-release 'A Thousand Winters'

UK dark-folk band Orchis resurrects after years of 'grave' silence. The band has begun recording a new album which will be released at the end of 2010. The band showed some new life of sign already in 2007 with the "Other Days" download EP via the now defunct Woven Wheat Whispers legal folk download service. For now, the band will first of all re-release their second long-play,"A Thousand Winters" as a digipak.

This English dark folk band consists of Tracy Jeffery (who also sings with Cunnan and J Greco's SQE), Amanda Prouten and Alan Trench (Cunnan, SQE, Twelve Thousand Days with Martyn Bates, Temple Music). The band so far released 4 albums to date starting in 1994 with "The Dancing Sun" (Cryptanthus /World Serpent), which was a collection of formative pieces, in 1997 "A Thousand Winters" (Cryptanthus / World Serpent) followed. With the demise of World Serpent, the band released "Mandragora" via Trisol in 1999. 2001 saw "Trait", actually a 'best of' released through the Russian Brudenia label.
