Pre-Erasure demo Andy Bell onlinePosted on 26/08/09
A demo from Andy Bell's pre-Erasure project Dinger has hit the Internet. The song is called "Air Of Mystery" and it was apparently recorded around 1985. The track was produced by Pete Gage (ex-Vinegar Joe featuring Robert Palmer). Dinger consisted of Pierre Cope and Andy Bell and was first called Baume before being renamed to Dinger. The band never managed to get a record deal though. You can hear the track after the jump!
Here's the track.
As Erasure are currently on a break until 2010, Andy Bell is working on his second solo album, which is due for release sometime in 2009. It is said to be a darker dance album to "Electric Blue" and will feature collaborations with Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) and Kate Pierson (The B-52's). The album will be produced by Pascal Gabriel, who previously remixed "It Doesn't Have to Be" for Erasure.
In related news, Andy Bells former partner Paul Hickey is planning for a Christmas 2009 publication of his book "Sometimes! - A life of Love, Loss and Erasure" (previously titled "Happiness Is The Best Facelift"). The book which has bee announced since 2006 gives an insight into how his and Andy's lives together changed with the success of Erasure, and paints a picture of what it was like for Paul to suffer a stroke and to be struck down in the prime of life.
