The continuing campaigning and statements against music piracy on the Internet by Dependent label head Stefan Herwig have apparently left their mark. Dependent president Stefan Herwig was invited to participate in an open panel discussion on the subject of "The music industry vs. net culture" at the c/o pop Convention. Also present will be Christian Hufgart, the spokesperson for the German Pirate Party, Lars Sobiraj, editor in chief of the "Gulli" file-sharing medium, and Mark Chung (Einstürzende Neubauten), among others. All will attempt to find some common ground there.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to discuss this issue with this panel and hope that we can forge new paths with this group," said Herwig about the discussion to be held on August 13th in Cologne. The c/o pop Convention is currently acting as the successor to the Popkomm music convention that stopped running this year and also hosts a festival in addition to an extensive convention.
