Cat Rapes Dog wish they had chosen a different band name

In an interview with Side-Line Magazine, Cat Rapes Dog founder Magnus Fransson says that he wished they had chosen a different band name: "For one thing, I wish we had chosen a different band name since "rape" is not something I wish to be connected with when searched on Google. But we were so naive and immature back then." Nevertheless the band still goes strong and as far as Fransson never split up: "We never really stopped playing, although there were years between gigs at some point. In 2000, we were tired of it all and had no one to push us so everything pretty much came to a halt. This pause was not intended, it just happened." Joel Rydstrom fans will also learn that he is still running but has lost every interest in the music business. Rydstrom left the band in 1995 during the creation of the follow up album "Biodegradable".

Cat Rapes Dog started out in the mid 80s with some demo releases. They made their debut with the EP "Columna Vertebralis" in 1989, becoming the first hard Swedish electronic act. Annelie Bertilsson joined the band for their 12" "Fundamental" in 1990 and soon became a regular member of the group. The group reached a peak with their "Moosehair Underwear" which was mostly mixed and mastered by Jürgen Engler and Chris Lietz at Atom H (Die Krupps HQ). "Biodegradable" followed but the departure of Rydstrom could not be compensated by Laszlo Hago as their new lead vocalist, thus the band went on hiatus for a few years. In 1998 the band returned with a new regular singer John Wreibo and the album "The Secrets Of God". Gone where much of the distorted vocals but the guitars still remained very present. The "People As Prey" album followed in 1999.
