More than 2 years ago the German label Dependent Records aka Stefan Herwig decided to call it quits. Tired of how the music business was going downhill and suffering of an advanced burnout syndrome he focused solely on tour management since besides reissuing several releases as digital downloads.

But behold, 26 months later, he has changed his mind and will re-open the label. This will include the release of some physical CD's, starting in late summer 2009.
The reason for his return? Here's what Stefan Herwig has to say about it:
- "I noticed in the last years that the electronic/industrial music scene is in a state of advanced decay, and that labels have cut back considerably on releasing new fresh artists. At the same token I have stumbled across a few absolutely amazing releases and demos. My favorite two artists in 2008 have not even been able to release their music in Europe at all. We were promised years ago that the internet will help us find all those small cool artists much easier, but it seems like the very opposite happened: all those good bands are being buried under a pile of sub par bands, and are hardly visible. Hardly any electronic newcomer bands have been able to stick a hand out of the underground since 2004/2005, and the longer this situation continues the bleaker the outcome seems to be."

Posted by: yluko on May 17, 09 | 3:17 pm Welcome back :) I agree their have been very few new artists to come out that I have found and heard about and allot probably has to do with exposure over talent. |
