Ostia side project Friends of Alice Ivy launches 'Hereafter Moth' EP

Out via Galasono Records is the debut EP "Hereafter Moth" for Ostia side project Friends of Alice Ivy. Friends of Alice Ivy is Kylie and Amps, singer and bassist respectively with Australia's ethereal music act Ostia. Expect lush strings, harps, sparse electronic percussion and lyrics steeped in mythology and literature. The band recorded most of the EP at home in Melbourne, calling in Sekiden's Mirko Vogel to handle production duties. Amps says he had considered Mirko as the band's producer for some time. "We worked on an unreleased Ostia track with Mirko 10 years ago, when he was playing with Dharma Buffer. His technical knowledge is amazing; but most importantly he approaches the work with a childlike enthusiasm...we really liked that."

The band has produced a limited edition of hand-made lyric booklets to accompany the first 100 copies of the EP. The EP features 5 tracks recorded in June/July 2008 and features contributions by Mark Tansley (ex-Suspiria) as well as Ostia's guitarist Justin. The track "A Song of Forgotten Places" is currently available as a free download from www.myspace.com/friendsofaliceivy . Following the release of "Hereafter Moth", Kylie and Amps will reconvene with guitarist Justin to work on a forthcoming Ostia EP.

Ostia formed in Brisbane, Australia in 1993 and released their latest EP "Between Two Cities" in April 2007. "Between Two Cities" emerged as a belated follow-up to Ostia's "From the Aether", released in 1997. More info at www.ostia-music.com and www.myspace.com/0stia .
