Music Non Stop is back
We have been informed for a while now, but finally we can make the news official. After almost six months away from the scene the industrial music mailorder shop Music Non Stop will relaunch under new ownership on Saturday 23rd August at Infest, the UK's premier festival of alternative electronic music, Bradford UK ( www.infestuk.com ). The Internet store (www.musicnonstop.co.uk) will be live shortly afterwards on Tuesday 26th August, following the UK Bank Holiday.

The website and domains owned by Music Non Stop Limited have been acquired by Grufti Limited. The mailorder will trade using the same branding as before.

The new owners were customers and friends of the business, and thought that Music Non Stop was too important to the alternative music scene to let it disappear without a fight. Grufti Limited aims to deliver the same high level of customer service and extensive product range as before, with the free newsletter service commencing soon for opted-in subscribers.

I'll take back my earlier comment about the Grave News online retailer; they are just as useless as MSN although to be fair MSN did at least have the items in stock! My first item ordered and they take 4 days just to let me know they never had it in stock in the first place! Useless and another industrial retailer to strike off the 'to shop from' list. Avoid like the plague!

Well, it's Tuesday and the site isn't back yet...
@ raedarius:
Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check them out.

Pricing is not always in control of labels...

I agree that the return of MNS in any shape or form is hardly reason to celebrate simply because of the overpriced products that the MNS name goes hand in hand with. I used them many times simply because they and Amazon Germany were the only choices available for european industrial CDs shipping to the UK. The delivery times were average at best and the postage deplorable for a UK based supplier. But it isn't simply MNS that should be condemned but also some of the labels like Alfa-Matrix for example. Bands like Diskonnekted and Ayria seem to think adding a remix disc and putting their latest albums in a DVD case seems to justify paying double the price you would for any other independant label double CD package. Also back to MNS I swear I received several CDs that had been played or certainly didn't appear brand new which for a mail order company beggars belief. However there is hope; the Grave News online retailer who seem very fairly priced and also have just sponsored Infest. I have placed a first order with them and the CD was reasonably priced and their selection is quite extensive too. Here is the link for those who don't want to pay over the odds;

This is all very interesting, we had just started to deal with them about 2 months before they went under...

johnesh,

That's not the case. Resurrection Records is generally cheaper than MNS was, and their postage deal is better.

Well as long as they don't rip me off I'll be going back to them, they were the only source in the UK for getting stuff from the European "scene" at prices that didn't break the bank.

You are kidding me.....

THE TRUTH ABOUT MUSICNONSTOP

When Music Non Stop went into liquidation apparantly they had debts of £150,000. A good chunk of this was to banks etc, but around £50,000 of the debt was to small bands, labels, distributors & promoters who make the scene what it is. MNS had £55,000 of stock on hand (net book value) at the time they went into liquidation - this should have been sold to repay their debts – what actually happened was that it was bought back by the MNS directors for £2,100 (3.8% of value), who then sold it on to their friends, along with the domain name etc. So what has happened here is that these people, between them, have in a premeditated way, used the liquidation as an opportunity to line their own pockets at the expense of their suppliers & the rest of the scene in general - i'm not sure just how jubilant we should really be. Submitted on behalf of all the bands, labels etc who have still not been paid what they are owed by musicnonstop. More like MusicNonStart, Or Maybe MusicFleeceShop.

Just telling it like it is...
