Klaus Dinger, German musician/songwriter and former percussionist of Kraftwerk has died of what seems to be a heart attack on March 21st, 4 days before his 62nd birthday. The news has only been revealed yesterday. Dinger was most famous for his contributions to the seminal Krautrock outfit, Neu!, and his invention of the Motorik beat.
Dinger formed Kraftwerk in 1970 together with Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider and Andreas Hohmann. He left Kraftwerk in 1972, a few years before they really broke through. After his departure he focussed on the avant-garde act Neu! releasing 3 albums. At the end of the 70s and in the 80s he kne more commercial success with the project La Düsseldorf.
