Swedish synth duo Audio Objekt's cover of Kraftwerk's "Computer World" has been banned by Kraftwerk's publishing representative in Germany. As a result the single has been taken out of distribution, physically and digitally, and the band has been forced to remove all audio files from www.audioobjekt.com , their MySpace and YouTube page plus their facebook account. Next to "Computer World" the CD single also included the song "Modellen", a Swedish translation of "Das Model".
Krafwerk are notorious for keeping a very close eye on Kraftwerk covers that are being released. Unlike with other bands, they do not automatically allow covers being made. In the past also the "Krafty Move" 2CD fell under the spell of Kraftwerk and was halted. Copies of this excellent cult tribute continue to pop up on eBay though, like here for example.

Posted by: Charge on Feb 27, 08 | 3:20 am Seriously this was just a big and boring PR-campaign... for the first the "was" a CD-R... meaning it was never "released". And to be honest you don´t need to be a genius to understand that you are not allowed to rewrite lyrics etc. And im 100% sure at least one of the member know this quite good since he has released covers before and has his studio in the same office as a musicpublisher ;) .... So it´s gonna be funny seeing how many goes for the PR-trick ;) |
