It's official now, after the rumours the last few weeks, Wolfsheim's Markus Reinhardt has now officially announced that they will split up. In fact Reinhardt dumped Peter Heppner from the Strange Ways Records signed act and will continue alone with a new singer. The reason for the Wolfsheim mayhem and silence since their 2003 release "Casting Shadows" can be found in a difference in vision on the future of Wolfsheim which was increasingly jeopardized by singer Peter Heppner's solo ambitions.
Reinhardt apparently did not appreciate the fact that Heppner signed a multiple solo-album contract with Warner Music in 2005, an action which according to Reinhardt was a breach of contract and a direct competition for Wolfsheim. On top Heppner wanted to push back a new Wolfsheim release till at least 2009 to focus on his solo career, something that would kill the band's future and damage its image according to the Wolfsheim founder.
Things became that complicated that the duo found themselves in front of the Regional Court of Hamburg which suggested an amicable settlement between both musicians. But those negotiations failed. A final decision from the court as far as Heppner's 'legacy' regarding Wolfsheim is expected later this Spring, Reinhardt's lawyer Jens Schippmann said.
The exclusion of Heppner also means that Reinhardt can now continue working on new Wolfsheim material albeit with a new singer. Wolfsheim founder Markus Reinhardt emphasizes that the style and the artistic direction of the band will remain similar.
So who should be the new Wolfsheim singer according to you?

Posted by: katwinx on Feb 28, 08 | 7:57 am i don't see why PH/MR can't just split and work on their own materials without flogging the dead horse of a two-man duo by replacing half of a perfect whole. i mean, a "new" WH with a karaoke singer doing covers of 20 years of material? lame. both musicians are talented. if they can't be talented outside of a single project, i have no idea what else to say. |
Posted by: Harlow on Jan 31, 08 | 9:28 pm You can't replace Peter, his voice in W...I think MR is just bitter that Peter set off on his own, but I do hope for PH sake that his album is amazing, otherwise he may have lost not 1 but 2 careers. |
Posted by: shudder on Jan 26, 08 | 2:06 pm Peter Murphy. Similar vocal tone. Recently lost his own band. |

Posted by: thoushaltnot on Jan 22, 08 | 9:36 am W was great, but I suspect that many of the fans would rather see a new project created than have a change of lead singer under the same name. A lot of people would love to sing with Reinhardt, but who wants to live in the shadow of Heppner, regardless of how good they are, always considered a replacement or a scab? |

Posted by: Shrike on Jan 21, 08 | 7:09 pm Michael Roeder (A spell Inside/Behind The Scenes) cause hes possibly the only guy with a voice to match Heppners in that style. Or Kristy Venrick of The Azoik cause shes been in serious need of music and songwriting that can match her magnificent voice and The Azoic just dont do that for her im my opinion. |
Posted by: Garfield on Jan 21, 08 | 6:48 pm I'm not a fan of W at all so maybe my opinion is far from reality. But it seems to me that Wolfsheim will die without Heppner. So Reinhardt, driven by the deepest insult and possible envy, is making his greatest mistake now. No matter who will replace Peter in W. |
