It has taken a while, but finally it has become reality: the famous BBC In Concert series with live material from a huge amount of artists is getting unlocked for the general public. Previously only available via the rare to find BBC Transcription Service vinyl series or via bootlegs, the BBC has now decided to release the material in collaboration with the German company Liquid Air Lab GmbH. Liquid Air Lab GmbH just launched its new platform Spodtronic Live! featuring hundreds of performances of world renowned artists from the past 37 years which have never been published before. The BBC In Concert series is one of the world’s largest catalogues of quality live music presenting both new and established artists from the last four decades in a wide range of genres, including some really cute electropop and gothic related releases.
Side-Line checked out the archives and found some very interesting live recordings from bands such as:
- Depeche Mode (08.10.1983, London, UK)
- The Cure (21.06.1986, Glastonbury, UK)
- XTC (22.12.1980, London, UK)
- U2 (06.12.1982, London, UK)
- Underworld (24.08.2002, Liverpool, UK)
- Talk Talk (07.05.1986, London, UK)
- The Smiths (18.03.1985, Oxford, UK)
- Pet Shop Boys (13.03.2002, London, UK)
- The Police (21.02.1979, Hatfield, UK)
- OMD (02.10.1984, London, UK)
- New Order (29.08.1993, Reading, UK)
- Erasure (06.05.1988, London, UK)
- ...
UPDATE: UK residents cannot use the platform which makes us believe that the BBC will develop an own platform.
