Entire Leaether Strip back catalogue to be reissued as 2CD sets - first volume now available for orderingPosted on 10/09/07
A video teaser on YouTube already announced it a few weeks ago: the first cult Leaether Strip album "The Pleasure Of Penetration" will be re-released as a remastered double CD set on November 13th 2007, Claus Larsen's birthday, under the title "Retention n°1". The release is part of an ongoing box series through which Claus Larsen will re-release his complete back-catalogue via the Belgian label Alfa Matrix. Each re-release will have both the fully remastered version of the original album on disc 1 and on the second disc, a totally re-written and reinterpretation (NO remixes!) of some selected songs from the original album by Leaether Strip himself re-recorded with current technologies. Note that the original track-list on disc 1 has been extended to 15 tracks with the addition of early 12" tracks and other rarities of the period.
Initially released back in 1990, the "The Pleasure Of Penetration" album was the first milestone of a long, prolific and still boiling music career today and quickly established Leaether Strip as one of the most important acts in Europe in the early 90's. Not surprisingly Leaether Strip became one of the leading acts on the cult Zoth Ommog / Music Research label. Tracks like "Japanese Bodies", "Razor Blades" or yet "Go fuck your ass off!" became instant classics.
Both discs will NOT be available separately and are only sold in this deluxe carton box which also includes some additional fan goodies. Alfa Matrix has already started accepting pre-orders for this re-release. Audiopreviews for all of the tracks can be checked here! For the occasion Alfa Matrix is offering various packets in its online shop including EP's or other Leaether Strip related releases together with the "Retention n°1" 2CD boxset.

This is some of the best news I have heard in a long while! I mean, let's face it, if you are huge LS fan like myself, you have been wanting (especially the first few albums) a remaster of alot of the classic tracks. I can't wait to hear Mohawk without all the background tape hiss. Not to mention a new coat of paint on all of his songs..sweet! Can't wait till he gets to his and THE best album ever made: Underneath the Laughter!
