Mental Ulcer Forges label resurrectedPosted on 26/01/06
The label Mental Ulcer Forges, started up by Rudy R. next to Beton Kopf Media, is seeing a second life. In a chat with Side-Line, Rudi Ratzinger explains: "I got too many good offers to let Mental Ulcer Forges sleep anylonger: Recently Deceased offered a demo during 2004 already, Cerebral Apoplexy did some very well-crafted instrumentals, and Yendri is my passion since I heard it for the first time ..." All 3 new Mental Ulcer Forges releases are put out for very personal reasons Rudi adds: "... and you can be sure that they will remain special products for a special group of people: they don't follow stereotype schemes in most cases. And so, they need to be discovered from scratch. Especially the Recently Deceased horror soundscapes are hard to swallow for a standard scene existence, I would say - but let them creep into your mind, and you will never get them out again." Started up in the late nineties to release bands other than :Wumpscut: the label was responsible for releases by such artists as Remyl, B-TON-K and Noisex. While those bands are no longer associated with the label, Rudy R. gathered a new flock of bands around him including the above mentionned Recently Deceased, Yendri and Cerebral Apoplexy. For the Russian project Recently Deceased consisting of the duo Wolfgang Nett and Stefan Leibher, the album "Barren Inc." also means their debut. Cerebral Apoplexy from its side is a German project, active under different names (Nakedbeat, Datom…) for quite some time. Just like Recently Deceased this project already contributed severeal remixes for :Wumpscut: releases. Rudy Ratzinger himself co-produced this debut album. Finally there's Yendri, who released 4 highly acclaimed albums on Trisol. Yendri's first album on Mental Ulcer Forges on April 7 will be titled "Playdoll" and contain 14 tracks recorded over the past 2 years. Also included is a cover-version of Depeche Mode’s "Everything counts". Good to know, "We search and lose" on this album was used as basis for the :Wumpscut:-track "Recht Vor Gnade" on the new :W:-album "Cannibal Anthem".
