Hooverphonic front woman Geike Arnaert will end her career with Hooverphonic by the end of this year. Arnaert has been the voice of Hooverphonic for more than 10 years. Arnaert wants to focus on her solo career and has been working on solo material since a few months. In a reaction Alex Callier says that the concerts which were booked will be played with Arnaert on vocals. The band will now start looking for a replacement. Arnaert is not the only Hooverphonic member working on a solo record, also Callier started work on a solo album since May.
It's the 3rd time the band looses its singer. Original member Liesje Sadonius left Hooverphonic shortly after the release of "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular". Kyoko Baertsoen, singer for fellow Belgian trip-hop band Lunascape, filled in for Sadonius for three months of a European tour in 1997 before Geike Arnaert was made the permanent singer in early 1998.
Below is "The Eclipse Song" by Hooverphonic, live at "Zomer 2008". More info soon at www.geike.be .
