Out on May 7th is the Charles Manson album "The summer of Hate – the ’67 Sessions". Released by Lupo Records here for the first time are the complete recordings that were made on 11th September 1967 in a rehearsal studio, which went onto be used as demos to try to secure a recording deal, which never happened. The release holds spoken word elements throughout the 18 tracks (just under 45 minutes). The tracklist of this release is as follow:
- Devil man
- The more you love
- Two pair of shoes
- Maiden with green eyes (remember Me)
- Swamp Girl
- Bet you think I care
- Look at your game Girl (alternate version)
- Interview
- Who to blame
- True love you will find
- My world
- Invisible tears
- This is night life
- Sick City
- Run for fun
- The house of tomorrow
- Close to Me
- She done turned me in / Twilight Blues / Your Daddys Home
The demos were recorded after Manson was released from prison where he had spent a 10-year suspended sentence for passing stolen checks. It was in the prison where a cell mate, the notorious 1930s bank robber Alvin Karpis, taught Manson to read music and to play the guitar. Manson is currently incarcerated in California's Corcoran State Prison. Several recordings of his works are commercially available, most of which were recorded in prison. But since he is a convicted felon, Manson receives no profit from the sale of these recordings. All royalties are paid into a victims'-rights fund.
