Everything But The Girl singer Tracey Thorn has covered Pet Shop Boys' "Kings Cross" track for her forthcoming solo album "Out of the Woods" out on Virgin and Astralwerks later this year, March 5th to be precise. The cover will be featuring featuring harmonium and a brass band. In a post on her blog Thorn says: "After years of making records with Ben, it just seemed time to take a break, and do something fresh... I've got together with a few different producers/collaborators, and we've come up with a record that (I hope) is a true reflection of who I am right now and what I love right now." For the album Thorn collaborated with such artists as Martin Wheeler, Alex Santos, Tom Gandey, Charles Webster and others but mostly with Ewan Pearson with whom she recorded seven tracks together. Next to the Pet Shop Boy's cover there is also a version of Arthur Russell's "Get Around To It". A first track, "It's All True", can be partially heard on Thorn's MySpace hub. The track, a collaboration between Thorn, Ewan Pearson, Darshan Jesrani and Klas-Henrik Lindblad (Sasse), will be the first single of her new studio album. For the petite histoire, Thorn's initial solo effort was a solo mini-album entitled "A Distant Shore" released back in 1982 on Cherry Red. Recorded by Pat Hermingham for just £138 it reached number 2 in the UK Indie chart in 1983.
