Cordless Recordings, the newest member of Warner Music Group's family of world-renowned labels, has signed Maven, the trio founded by Bon Harris, the former frontman of cult industrial band Nitzer Ebb. Harris announced the signing in an interview with Side-Line magazine. Maven features Harris on vocals, synthesizer, guitar and electronics, Ethyl Meatplow's Biff Sanders on drums and Polar Bear's Andy Troy on guitar. In a reaction Jason Fiber, President Cordless Recordings, tells Side-Line: "Maven is an exciting and important new addition to the Cordless roster of artists. Bon, Andy and Biff possess a complementary combination of musical backgrounds and a completely unique and innovative sound. The band is also on the cutting edge of music releasing and distribution techniques, which make them ideally suited for Cordless' business model of using digital products and new technologies to deliver and discover music." Rather than exclusively releasing music in the traditional album or single configuration, Cordless will release "clusters" - three or more songs - by Maven in order to increase the interaction between the band and their fan base. The first cluster of Maven songs will be released in March 2006. Maven marks the first time in Harris' career that he sings lead. In addition to his work with Maven, Harris has worked as a co-producer and collaborator with a number of artists, including former Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan, Bush, Avril Lavigne, Dirty Vegas and Marilyn Manson. Both Sanders and Troy have been active in scoring various film and television shows. Cordless Recordings is the brainchild of legendary music executive, Jac Holzman, the founder and former Chief Executive Officer and creative head of Warner Music Group's Elektra and Nonesuch Records. Jason Fiber, the founder of Superfecta Recordings and The Ideal Copy, is Cordless' President. A different kind of record company, Cordless Recordings is designed to take advantage of the latest online and mobile technologies.
