80sObscurities presents: Miko Mission - 'Two For Love'

This 80sObscurities was founded by DJ Rexx Arkana to showcase old, often unknown or forgotten acts and tracks from the decade when electronic music was truly the new wave. Rexx Arkana has been a club/radio DJ and promoter since the mid-80s and headlined festivals on several continents and currently holds a residency at DEFCON, NYC's current longest-running weekly scene party. He is also the founder and lyricist of Brudershaft and one half of harsh electro act FGFC820.
It is officially departure day for WGT – finally – so this, kids, will be the last 80sObscurities showcase for this week, as I intend to be far too drunk to type for the next couple of days. What better way to go out than with a little 80s italo disco? Stepping up is one Pier Michele Bozzetti, aka Miko Mission. Bozzetti began his musical career at a young age, performing in local shows and productions in his hometown of Alessandria. By the age of 14, At age fourteen, he started his own band “I passi per la Musica', later rechristened as “Oscars.”
The group competed in several Italian songwriting/performance contests and, after winning one of them, was offered a recording contract with Ariston Records in 1964 (!!!). Under the stage name “Don Miko”, he debuted with the singles "45 Gente... che ragazza!" and "Non hai più niente per me", the latter of which became a summer hit that year.
Through the 70s, he recorded under his birth name, achieving some level of critical acclaim, but it wasn’t until he rebranded himself as Miko Mission in the 80s that he reached the height of his popularity, and put himself in contention for inclusion in 80sObs. 1984 brought the hits "How Old Are You?" and “The World Is You”, preceding the release of today’s tune, “Two For Love.”
Crank the volume on this and get down with your bad selves, and I’ll see you all on Monday. (...)

The much awaited "The Twin Moons" album put Greece's best dark electro export product Siva Six right back in the spotlight, on dancefloors and on stages across Europe. The new "Superstition" EP holds no less than 15 songs including exclusive new songs and multiple new remixes from the current album "The Twin Moons". Note also the splendid design by artist Zila.
Featured on the album is singer Maria Kalapanida delivering some nasty vocals to the scene pastiche "I am a groupie". Combichrist fans should check it out for sure (and not because it sounds like Combichrist). Remixes were executed by Mani Deum, Incubite, Headshock, Nano Infect, Hexrx, Killus, Beauti Mortui, Video Game Orchestra, Christian Cambas, Mustpain and The Dead For A While.
15 tracks that will show you the variety this band has to offer.
You can order the 15-track release via iTunes (at a dead cheap price we must say) or via Bandcamp (also at a very affordable price). Note that the Bandcamp pre-order of "Superstition" includes an immediate download of 1 track in your choice of high-quality MP3, FLAC, or other formats. A link to the complete album will be emailed to you the moment it's released. (...)
Cynical Existence returns with 6-track EP 'Beholder'

2 months after the release of the brand new video for Cynical Existence "I'm Broken", Sweden's raging act Cynical Existence returns with a brand new single, or rather EP, "Beholder". The 6-track download release offers the first new material from artist Fredrik Croona since his debut-album "Come Out And Play" was launched last year.
This new EP offers quite another side of Cynical Existence, revealing the project to be more than just a dancefloor orientated act. The best example is the Swedish sung "Mardröm" which offers a promising artistic evolution announcing the follow-up album to last year's "Come out and play" LP, namely "Erase, Evolve and Rebuild" (release date is unknown yet).
You can order the EP via Bandcamp and via iTunes. Pre-order of the "Beholder EP" on Bandcamp includes an immediate download of 1 track in your choice of high-quality MP3, FLAC, or other formats. A link to the complete album will be emailed to you the moment it's released. (...)

80sObscurities presents: Kissing the Pink - 'One Step'

This 80sObscurities was founded by DJ Rexx Arkana to showcase old, often unknown or forgotten acts and tracks from the decade when electronic music was truly the new wave. It’s Tuesday, which means I’m one step closer to Germany and Wave Gotik Treffen. So, I’ve chosen an appropriately titled 80sObscurities option to mark the occasion. Kissing the Pink were a new wave/dance group from London, England. During their existence the act included contributions from Nick Whitecross, John Hall, George Stewart, Josephine Wells, Pete Barnett, Sylvia Griffin, Steve Cusack, and Simon Aldridge.
The legendary Martin Hannett produced their debut single, "Don't Hide in the Shadows", but the group didn’t start to garner any significant airplay until they signed to Magnet Records and dropped their original manager (a move they celebrate vocally in the track "Michael"). KTP wanted Brian Eno to produce their debut album, “Naked”, but their record label brought in Colin Thurston instead, arguing that he might be able to make a more commercial impact with their music. It turns out they were right, as 1983’s "The Last Film" final broke the band into the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart.
By the middle of the decade, now operating as KTP after they shook off several members, the band hit the apex of their popularity. The title track of their third album, "Certain Things Are Likely" spent three weeks at No. 1 in 1987.
Today’s track was the lead song on that same album, and would go on to become the biggest selling single in Italy that year. Since the release of their last album in 1993, members of the band have continued to collaborate on many dance records and material for various other pop artists. Today it’s a time warp back to 1987, tomorrow it’s light speed to Europe. Here’s Kissing the Pink. (...)
