Just for shits... Does anybody agree with me on this one? Out of all the shous I've gone to, whenever I go to an industrial show (which are far and few between because I usually have to drive a long distance for those) and I see all of these hardcore rivteheads, I think "Jesus, they must be wearing five hundred dollars on their body right now." I mean, seriously, the goggles, dreads or synth dreads, spikey jewelry, sometimes full face-make-up, cyber pants... I just assume that it costs alot and takes alot of time to dress like that. So for all of you hardcore rivetheads out there, am I right? Is being a rivethead expensive. Lol. Just bored and curious...

Well back in the day being a rivethead meant ya had a leatherjacket with "242" done in white paint on the back, wearing a crusty old kmfdm shirt. Now days it means ya have new rocks, german millitary club goggles, and can download mp3s with your fake hair. Now nothing get sme going more than a hot rivet girl look wise. go to Das Bunker in LA an dyou'll see what I mean.
A lot of people who really get into it buy stuff form ebay or custom sites online. Thankfully a lot of modern day rivet style is pretty much just the UK cybergoth and raver meets old rivethead stylings so it's not that difficult to put together. For me, I'm about minimalism; millitary cargo pants, new rocks, suicide commando shirt and custom made goggles. Ok so thats a few hundred dollars right there...but Im not about to go for that thrift store indie hipster mod look. The whole thing is silly really...but for me its the same thing as Trekkies. Theres big fans of Trek that dress up like romulans. Well Im a big fan of EBM and cyberpunk in general, so I like to dress up. I've found tho, there's nothing hotter than a girl ina Feindflug or FunkerVogt shirt:) Mar 08, 05 | 4:33 am

See, in the uk that's called 'cybergoth'...here it's all rivethead. I personally am allergic to the word 'goth', so cyberpunk to me fits fine. I'm down with the whole Blade Runner/Tank Girl/Fifth Element look...ok maybe not Fifth Element. Ghost in the Shell for sure. What do the goths have, Interview with a Vampire and Nightmare Before Xmas?

That's my point though I think it's a misrepresentation of the word Rivethead (I'm only bothering to argue my point as it's part of my user name and I'd hate for all you US dudes to confuse me as a cyber ;)).Wasn't rivethead originally a late 80's early 90's US term that would have applied to the kind of music around at the time (guitar crossover,SP etc.)?
Like I said elements of cybergoth are cute/cool but the problem is as the term gets more popular you get people attempting it who really should know better (I'm think twenty stone guys in flourescent orange etc.) Rivetmike Mar 08, 05 | 3:05 pm

Nah, it's really not. The most expensive fashion right now is the "not quite homeless" look. You know what I'm talking about, the ridiculously ripped and stained jeans and shirts that come wrinkled. That shit is unbelievably expensive. A pair of jeans that's like missing a leg costs $200.

um I guess i'm just plain Jane here.
cheap skate kicks: $10 gray hoodie: $10 white t-shirt: $3 baggy fit jeans (size 38, no matter your waist size gotta rock the 38's): $10 - nowhere near RIVETing but it's not about what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside, EBM 4 LIFE!!!! 33 bucks. dddammmnnn, i've spent more dough on CD's at any given time. The only thing I spend any sort of money on is my hair; braiding can be very expensive, yes, but my clothing comes from second-hand shops, or the sale racks at Target and Hot Topic. I won't spend any kind of money on shoes unless they're well-made and will last me a loooooong time. Playing drums in heels is lame, and most "fashion" shoes are only glued to the sole, and will fall apart within a year of heavy use.
As for what might be considered "cool", I don't give a shit - I will take neon paisley over flat black ANY day. I get so frickin' tired of seeing Dane this and Transmuter that; when I was getting into this scene back in the 80s, we made our own damn clothes specifically SO we wouldn't look like everyone else. Now, you can buy all that crap off the rack, and look like about 5 other people in the same crowd. Conformity to be non-conformist is silly. Mar 08, 05 | 9:29 pm

I might also like to add that comfort is far more important to me than fashion; I haven't worn a corset in AGES, because they're fucking uncomfortable. I don't want to feel like I'm getting out of a full body cast every time I come home from a show/club.

It is; actually, the company that created it, Craig Morrison, did the big lip couch for a Meat Beat Manifesto video WAY back in the day; I cannot remember the song.
Bug bags are mostly a European thing; I think I've seen maybe 4 or 5 gals here in Seattle with them. *shrug* I think that it is far too expensive to dress what I might consider "nice" all the time; and far too uncomfortable - and I RUIN clothing. I can't have nice things, basically. *LOL* I'm not much of a chick in the clothing department. I value my hair and my footwear, and everything in between is just incidental. :) Mar 09, 05 | 5:28 am

This cyberlook is so tacky and expensive. Cybers are posers just like all those goths. They come to show off.
I'd rather spend my money on music and artbooks then on looks. I like the scene for the music, not for the looks. That being said I just wear stuff from armyoutlets, a very heavy old blackleather policemans longcoat (some call me Herr Flick) and black boots most of the time. Nothing really fancy or expensive appart from the coat. Band Tshirts sometimes to get the message across. Mar 09, 05 | 11:33 am

I wear one of the dragonfly shirts (probably went out of style back in 2002 but I like them, damn it... lol), black jeans, and sometimes even a black hoodie (they sometimes don't have working heat in City Club). I've never been one to go overboard on fashion anyway. :)

I dress like a stylish average joe. Nice jeans, t-shirts, polos, button ups, whatever. I'm not a big fan of the rivet look or whatever its called. Too uncomfortable and it really only works in certain settings. I'd probably dress like that for a concert or something but here in Iowa that isn't really a big concern :(

- VNV Nation (3) - Apoptygma Berzerk (2) - Ravenous - The Azoic - Blutengel - Terminal Choice - HIM (3) - Lacuna Coil - Joy Division - Depeche Mode (fucked if I can find it though) - In Strict Confidence - Evanescence (quit laughing, I like them) - The Crüxshadows - Neuroactive ... and that's all I can remember right now. I am very particular on clothing, but I do to dress down at times black shirt and pants easiest fastest way to go out. I go all out when I go to shows at times, new rocks, world war 2 gunner goggles, PVC and my little armor rings. Have you seen how expensive Bebe is these days, even hot topic crap is expensive. People normally look dorky anyway with all the braids I dont even know where the hell that comes from, you look crappy and dirty stop wearing braids ! Cybergoth is really expensive and in the end you look like a raver. I just like wearing cool shirts no one else have.

I will cop to owning a few pairs of goggles. But one of them came from Australia, and has these really long metal spikes on the side, plus metal plating on the lenses that you can see through...I haven't worn 'em much, but I might wear 'em in DC just to be 733T. :p

since I'm an "old head" as mentioned by some of my peers, I tend to dress like a former "rivet head". I've traded my paratrooper combat boots in for some nice comfy Sketchers, sporting cargo pants now, mainly Ocean Pacific, not those super flimsy fatigues I wore back in highschool. I still rock band t-shirts but with a plain black button down dress shirt and oh yeah, I don't do shit to my hair. Why? Because its fucking rediculous to have different types of polymers hanging from your damned head. The whole "glowing in the dark" thing I find quite fucking rediculous. Honestly, some of the people in our scene dress like pissed off highschoolers when they are well into their late 20's and early 30's. Serisouly, you gotta put down the glow sticks, grow up, move out of your parents basement, forget the club, and get a fucking job.

I have a job, and I haven't lived with my parents for well over 10 years. That being said, I like my braids, and I enjoy wearing things that glow and blink, so deal, y0. THAT being said, we didn't HAVE shit like that when I was growing up, and I find it fun because it annoys the locals. I could also care less what anyone thinks of how I look; I think life is far too short to give a shit. I have fun with the dressy stuff I DO wear on occasion, and frankly anyone who tells me they don't like it will be introduced to both of my middle fingers. Their names are Frank and Sam. Nice to meet you. If I could get away with a mohawk, I would, but my head simply isn't good for anything remotely resembling an old-school haircut, so braids it is. I'm nearly 34, and thus far too old to care what little kids think of the way I dress. bitter; it is nice to hear another girl get into the discussion here; I found it funny that a bunch of guys were talking about clothes. My favorite Rivet outfit is old ratted army boots I found in the back alley behind my house, a pair of old black combat trousers cut into shorts, a white wifebeater, and an olive button down shirt I stole from a friend. I really like the nonchalant Cyberpunk/Rivet aesthetic.
That said I do have a pair of knee high 5 buckle Demonia boots, and 2 pairs of garrisons (one work pair, one dress pair). I figure I can justify spending that much money on the garrisons because they last forever. I've had one pair for 3 years and they're still completely intact. My favorite band T is a bright red mdfmk t-shirt with what looks like a Pac Man on the front that I'm told is actually a Japanese choking hazard symbol. I haven't been able to confirm that. Yeah, I have about 50 or so black shirts, half of which I havent even worn. Some are doubles if I really like a band(one to wear, one to save) Yes, I have a lot, I just don't wanna type out everyone. My favorites are my import Suicide Commando shirt, and Freezepop. And, I've seen people, especially at Das Bunker, with modified/painted painter's respirator gas masks from Home Depot. Nessus; your outfit sounds very cool. And comfortable! :D
Pulse State; PLEASE don't go incognito; I already miss enough people as it is! *LOL* I think that regardless of what people think about others that go "all out" as it were, everyone has something that they feel speaks to them clothing-wise. You can't just say you don't have a style; that's like saying you don't have a first name - it's like saying that there is nothing unique about YOU. EVERYone has something about them appearance-wise that stands out in a crowd. And if you don't have something clothing-wise, then you have a hairstyle that you feel comfortable in, or a speech pattern, or an attitude. It's painfully obvious when someone doesn't feel comfortable in their clothing, or even their skin; you really have to do what you feel is the best - whether that means what you would consider "casual" dress, or if you feel like looking like a Christmas tree, 'tis all good. As for gas masks, I'm considering some respirators for the tour, for cigarette smoke, but don't want to look like too much of a goof...I s'pose time and money will tell. Mar 14, 05 | 4:53 am

exactly. My staple everyday outfit would be dark grey cargo shorts and any given black t shirt. "As for gas masks, I'm considering some respirators for the tour, for cigarette smoke"<<< I've had to put up with people's smoke for almost 11 years of clubs. OK... I smoke. A lot. I'm probably massively retarded for it, but oh well. At any rate, I just played a live show Saturday at a non-smoking venue in Indianapolis. I was able to keep from going outside and freezing my ass off just fine until I got really wasted (pretty much after we played and before the second band went on), and then I basically hung outside the rest of the night.
I guess in California, it's not too bad because it's always warm, but geez... I hope they never ban smoking in clubs and bars in Detroit because I will seriously be catching colds constantly from standing outside to smoke. This had nothing to do with the topic at hand. Sorry. Just figured I'd throw this in as well; if it takes longer than 30 minutes to get ready for an evening out (this includes showering), it's just not worth the time. Back in my goth days, I used to have to get up really early to allow myself at least an hour and a half worth of prep time before I'd go anywhere...I don't even want to KNOW how much of my life was wasted trying to make sure that everything was drawn on, curled, sprayed down and zipped up. I think it's all very well and good to dress up; I mean, what this scene does at its clubs is akin to what rich people do at charity auctions and awards shows, it's just that our stuff is $500 instead of $5000 or $50,000 to wear.
It's funny that you should ask that, as I've kept some of my boots from that time, and I tried to put them on the other day; my only thought was "I used to be able to WEAR these?!" Platform stiletto heels. Ugh. Mar 15, 05 | 5:41 pm

It takes me about 30 min. to get ready (Incl. shower).
I usually wear knee high combat boots, black cargos I've altered, some version of tank top, and arm warmers. And sometimes extensions. The only really expensive things I own are boots. Mar 15, 05 | 8:54 pm

Funny, isn't it, how "arm warmers" really don't keep your arms all that warm? :D Your outfit, Naberius, sounds about like what I do most of the time in the summer; in the winter, there should be sweaters...

It doesn't get very cold here so sweaters aren't really necessary. The sad thing is that putting in my contacts takes the longest. >:(

@fritter242>>>Funny, isn't it, how "arm warmers" really don't keep your arms all that warm? <<<
I thought the big rivetgirl fashion faux pas was the furry leg warmers that look like a few Muppets had to die. I was at this big goth industrial club last night in san francisco where there was several hundred people...I can safely say the corset, leather jacket, hot topic and victorian wear makers are being kept in business. Oh good LORD; someone should start a 'most hated fashion' thread; those leg warmer things EASILY qualify as the silliest thing ever. I don't know why I hate them, I just do. Get a pair of pants, for Chrissakes!

Yes those legwarmers look very silly indeed. But I am afraid that these girls don't even reallize that. They just think it is so very 80's or something.
The truth is of course that it makes them look like Yetigirl ( a Robert Crumb cartooncharacter) and that is not a compliment. Yetigirl rules! :-(( Mar 16, 05 | 9:46 am

Oh... and no rivethead is NOT the "most expensive fashion" have you seen the price of 'normal' clothes these days? It honestly is about average... it just seems expensive if you don't make a lot of money (and well, doesn't everything).
Admittedly, I'm not all about spending $100 for a skirt but unfortunately a lot of the "cyber" type clothing come from small boutique companies that make clothing in a limited run so their expenses are much higher to produce a garment than say... Kmart who ships production to a 3rd world country and buys in massive bulk quantities. Apr 29, 05 | 4:08 pm

Yes, men's clothing is definitely more of a problem. I would try:
http://www.cyberdog.net/tradingstation Not a bad men's selection... some items are a bit ridiculous but overall a solid selection http://www.dracinabox.com Never bought from them but they have an OK selection of clothing. http://www.cathouseclothing.com This is more of a gothy/fetish clothing site but she occassionally has some cyber/more industrial feeling clothing. I mostly list this site because she has EXCELLENT customer service and I think she makes a lot of the clothing herself. The best online store I've ever ordered from. I'm sure there is more to list but my brain is still waking up... May 02, 05 | 4:30 pm

Cyberdog is expensive, I have a T-shirt or two of theirs, but both were presents. DIY features a lot in the Cyber / rivet fashion I guess. Whenever I got plastic done it was down to devoted help from friends and large quantities of "found" plastic.
T-Shirts: Skinny Puppy einstuerzende neubauten (5!) Numb Frontline Assembly Legendary Pink Dots Clock DVA The Orb Sonic Violence x** (2) Dive (2) Test Department Chemical brothers Prodigy Daft Punk Treponem Pal (3) Cat Fud Sabotage QCQC The Young Gods Vomito Negro oh, a Pigface baseball cap too. I bought the Skinny Puppy one, the rest were free, I used to organise concerts and tours and bands would often give me a t-shirt. In fact, here's a tip for groups who start doing big-ish tours: Ken Marshall told me that for a Puppy tour they had printed up really cheaply "Skinny Puppy Staff" T-shirts. Just white on black and on actually really low quality but like I said, cheap. Every time they turned up at a venue they handed them out to sound guys, local crew, whoever was there basically. Straight off the bat they make a good impression with the people they'll have to work (NEVER argue with the local sound guy before a gig! I once saw a guy do a whole concert with ONLY the onstage monitors on! Artist had bitched the sound guy and Mr "Don't mess with me" Soundman turned the PA off at the start of the gig and spent the whole concert at the bar!) with AND for the evening loads of people wear their name. Neat idea. Especially when you consider that not many bands can really afford to give away shirts all the time as they can help reccuperate tour/gig costs. Paul www.x**.org May 03, 05 | 5:24 pm

Actually I have....and let me tell you after dropping $100 I certainly didn't walk away with 1 skirt/shirt/pants. For $100 I got 3 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of pants, and 3 t-shirts and yes all popular brand names like Nautica/Tommy/Arizona/Guess. Sorry but to pay $100 for one item makes you a moron. Ypatinga: there is a cheap boot and shoe site that I found a while back called rivithead.com. They have both men's and women's shoes, and I'm sure you can find something decent there. I got a pair of plaid wedge knee boots for like $50 off that site, and they're awesome. If you cannot find anything there, there is a directory site called batgearandbeyond.com that has TONS of different sites for ordering clothing and accessories from.
I have not been wearing a respirator thus far on tour...in fact, all the stuff that I brought that I thought I *might* wind up wearing for playing and dress-up purposes has been sitting dormant in my suitcase for the past 4 weeks. I always default to t-shirt, comfy boots or shoes, and shorts or baggy pants (both of which make me look like an elephant, but I don't care). Dressing up simply doesn't suit me much anymore. I actually need to sell a bunch of old chick clothing that I still have. :/ May 05, 05 | 2:03 am

Every once in a while I'll spend a good amount of money on something from Plastik Wrap or a similar website, but about 90% of my wardrobe was bought from Salvation Army or Goodwill, or was handmade. My favorite article of clothing is my pink camo pants from an Army Surplus store ^_^

I'm not into Cybergoth thing, but yes clothes costs me a lot.. even though I wear all black and pretty minimalistic stuff with no colors or lights or synthetics (I do like lots of metal hanging on me) with tax, that stuff cost me about:
new rocks: $400 bondage pants: $70 short skirt worn on top of pants: $20 t-shirt: $20 fishnet shirt that goes over t-shirt: $20 jacket on top: $70 skull pins from military surplus: $10-$15 leather bracelets: $20-$60 (cause i'd wear up to 4) chain that goes on pants: $15 fishnet halfglove: several bucks total its over $700 worn at one time--yes, this shit is expensive, but it's worth it for a Bunker night. BTW, Does anyone know where to get a nice gas mask for dancing?--a black mask with filters or plain, without them? i tried hardware stores and various fetish stores, but i didn't find anything good. Incidentally if you do spend a lot of fashion I would recommend looking at some the people down in South America who make gear, my exso got a slew of really great deals down there, full outfits all hand-made, custom fit for like $20-$40 US (which is a ton of money in local currency). I briefly thought about getting into the reselling side because of that price disparity. Obviously you can't custom fit but you might imagine a reasonable facsimilie
The other economic lesson I've learned from following that one around is to look in the trashy sections of teenager stores (particularly the malltype) like "wet seal" "h&m" "forever 21".. snag cheap stuff for $10 and rip it up .. instaclub clothing for nothing that you dont feel bad about getting fucked up.. designfemme and i rock the sexy androgenous female look. i'm most comfortable in super tight-fitting [black, gray, or pinstripe] pants, button-up shirt w/collar, tie [i have a million], shiny pointy shoes [not goth buckle ones] and possibly a sweatervest or suit vest. Sort of a cross between school boy and corporate fetish. Ha. I shop mostly at cheap places like Forever 21, H&M and thrift/second hand shops, so I don't spend a lot. On occasion, I like to break out a waist cincher, mini skirt and hot stripper heels which costs a pretty penny. And I have a thing for latex/rubber....but I can rarely afford it.
I can't stand the day-glo cyber garb. Each to their own...I just find it silly to look at. I prefer more timeless ensembles. Oct 08, 07 | 12:33 pm

In terms of Rivethead "fashion", I usually wear BDU/ACU fatigue pants, Post-Korean War era combat boots (my dad's from when he was in the Army), an old :Wumpscut: (i.e. the one from the Bunkertor box) shirt or Godflesh shirt, and some bakelite 1940's welding goggles with rusted metal vents tacked to the sides (they look pretty close to what you see that one guy in Alien3 wearing).
That's about it. I am so far removed from this scene I guess I don't get the whole "cyber" thing. I thought "Goths" had become the fashion victims...I'm probably the only "rivet" within a 50 mile radius of my home. Oct 08, 07 | 1:17 pm

"BTW, Does anyone know where to get a nice gas mask for dancing?--a black mask with filters or plain, without them? i tried hardware stores and various fetish stores, but i didn't find anything good." Ummm...have you, by chance, tried a military surplus store? You can get Gulf War I era Israeli gas masks still in the box for about 9 - 20 bucks at any of them. They are full-face respirators (with lenses). Avoid anything from the World Wars as they used asbestos in the filters, although I have a few wicked looking WWII full-box respirators in my militaria collection that would freak out the mundane club types. If you just want the mouth/nose filter type mask, paint stores sell these. You can simply paint them black with enamel or acrylic paint. Oct 08, 07 | 1:25 pm

I could never get into the fashion aspect of this music scene or any music scene at that. I got the old school hardcore punk anti fashion mentality stuck in me. I think band t-shirts are ok though. Maybe the only time i might somewhat dress up is if i was playing in a band in the scene. But at that point its all about show.

thanks for the advice! yes, I'm looking for a half-mask that leaves eyes open. the ones i found in paintstore were all white.. i guess there're black ones with yellow filters somewhere, i'll have to find and paint it. i also like half-masks made from cloth, grommets, zippers, etc.. with skull and bones on top, sometimes: can't find who makes them. Actually, something like this MIGHT BE what you are looking for...a "particulate mask". ![]() It's black and yellow, and the annoying headpiece can be removed. Try some online industrial (REAL "industrial", not the music) suppliers. Regardless of what you get, DO NOT paint the filters themselves! (I figure you already know that!) MZ Oct 08, 07 | 2:55 pm

I should have clarified...the outer components of the filter cartridge can be painted (stick with something non toxic and definitely non-toluene based). The filter part I was referring to in my post is the internal component that actually filters dust. That's basically your "scrubber" (usually made of charcoal/ASZ charcoal/activated charcoal). On most masks those cartridges (the yellow and black cylinders in the pic in my post) are disposable and can be replaced, hence the fact that you can unscrew them completely from the mask itself. Cyberdog stuff is severely overpriced.
£100 for a pair of pants. £35 for a pair of goggles. £30-£60 for a normal t-shirt. £75 and upwards for one with LEDs. £15-35 for UV-reactive wrist guards. £20 for UV reactive necklace/collars. Personally, do the camo and combat boots. My personal favourite combination being genuine South African army browns and South African standard police issue boots, combined with band t-shirt of some sort. T-shirts I have: Das Bunker: Fear of a distorted planet (cos I was on it :) ) Suicide Commando: Cause of death suicide Caustic (plain band tee, not the uterus one) Feindflug stukas My own GDA shirt (50 print run ltd edition from a while back) Combichrist logo shirt (the one with "And Jesus said...") Also got a Suicide Commando Hoodie (the one with the big logo on the back). Oct 08, 07 | 5:35 pm

Well, I prefer to dress the old skool rivethead style. A pair of steel toed combat boots, some combat pants, and a band t-shirt. Shaved head on the sides as usual and $7 goggles (that look much better than some 40+ shits I've seen online) for the shows.
As for the t-shirts that I have a rather small collection, shit's expensive: VNV Nation (3 shirts, one DIY) Combichrist Imperative Reaction And One Rammstein Metallica (I know, I know) Rage Against the Machine Nine Inch Nails Few others that I can't think off at the moment. As well as the thing that I treasure the most, my jacket with a huge :W: logo spray painted (with a stencil of course) on the back and various band patches/pins (like F242, VNV, VaC, etc) There is some jewelry involved, but I've been distancing myself from that lately. Now i just find myself wearing old pair of jeans and some steel toed Brahma work boots from Wal-Mart. Oct 11, 07 | 1:06 pm

-combat boots (standard issue US army) -raver pants -studded cuffs I also have a self-modded respirator (bought it from home depot, spraypainted it black, removed the headstrap and pimped it out with spikes... yeah, I'm ghetto...) but I'd never wear it as just a clubgoer. On-stage only. even so I've been building up my industrial wardrobe one item at a time. Cheap. Custom made. Ebay. Cyber actually was based on fashion. Expensive fashion. It had nothing to do with William Gibson or Front Line Assembly when it became it subculture. It had to do with going to the UK and shopping at Cyberdog. Hence the subculture was born.
Not sure what this has to do with rivethead though. Oct 13, 07 | 6:41 pm

I had a chance to wear Demonia Platform boots today. Sadly, they were female-boots, but for some reason (which belonged to my friend), they fit me well, and do look good on a guy just like on a female. Four inch high in the back, 3 inch up front, only nearly fell on my ass twice during the night.

What can I say? Yeah, it's a vacuum that sucks my money out. I couldn't help and spent money on several expensive corsets and arm pieces, lip sevice pants (these are nice, bondage skinny jeans with lots of zippers, straps and metal on them), hairpieces, etc! I now have to make sure I leave the house without money on me, or I'm going to leave them in one of the stores... damn it.

I wear whatever. I'm pretty jeans & tshirts. I do wear a lot of crap from Hot Topic, but primarily because my girl is an asst. mgr. there and we get super sweet discount. Before she started there, I hardly ever shopped... just too expensive and and a lot of the shit is made really cheap.
Big fan of band t-shirts, of course. Especially my old school Ministry t-shirt from like 85... Everyday is Halloween cover art (young Al in shades!) w/ Wax Trax! logo... even though its white and rarely gets worn, fits like a dream, and was only $5 on ebay! ($3 of that was shipping!) My girl has a couple old TKK shirts that are really sweet too. And I LOVE my fifteen dollar thrift store combat boots. Practically untouched when I bought them and incredibly comfortable. The cyber look can be hot, but I'm not really into it... more old school and minimal myself. I'm working on getting in better shape, hopefully lose this gut of mine... after which I'll look fucking good in my tight ass rocker jeans & bondage pants... :) Feb 03, 08 | 4:49 pm

jeans and hoodie, ftw.
and no, new york city / miami club culture puts the industrial scene to shame with its frivolity. the cost of your shirt and the spikiness of your hair is directly proportional to the chance that you'll make it into the club with the $19 heinekens. a $50 spray-on man tan and a gold chain buried in your chesty thicket helps, too. My favorite part about that picture is that it seems to use the Caustic font. :)

That's a lot of popped collars and that one guy, to the right, with the fake tan, the one staring at the camera? He's going to kill someone.

Heh, I went to the London Edge Exhibition on Sunday w/ brands like lip service, cyberdog, sdl, demonia, new rock, etc etc. You don't even want to know what the wholesale prices are :P

I've seen Demonia's wholesale catalog before and the prices were alright. 'Course, it's wholesale, so you have to, you know, own a business to order from them.

Swiss army goggles=$17
Any given band T= $15 Jungle Combat boots: $25 Gas Mask = $6 Studded Collar = $0 (picked it up in a box of unwanted costume pieces) That amounts to about $63 in all to cover the basics. Not bad, although I wish I'd bought sturdier boots, and I like blousing my trousers, which you can't really do with jungle style boots, which kind of sucks, but I like them quite a bit regardless. Even the soles are quickly wearing away from excessive use. As for band Ts: -Chemlab -The Birthday Massacre -Spider Lilies -Sapphire Rebellion -Skinny Puppy -Front 242 -Bella Morte -Angelspit I honestly don't seem to own that many band shirts compared to a lot of people here.... atm, its not that expensive, in NZD with my price than the retail price in brackets here we go-
Usual clothes- Black leather jacket $95 (was on special- $140) 5 patches about $25-30 (Deathstars, <old>A.F.I., Soulfly, Dropkick murphys and Motorhead) 1.5 inch spikes x6@ $2.75 (had to put them in myself, not difficult) Studded leather belt $0 + buckle$0, $40, $40, (belt goes for $60 ish, was a gift coz my cousin was too small, first buckle was harley davidson 1992 original, its dead, then dimmu borgir, and now a couple of guns with a zippo slot) T shirt- roughly $20, i have a few to wear Jeans- Revolution denim were about $50, or come cargos that are around $30, but going to get some heavy moleskins which are about $200-$250 but really good quality and last for ages Boots, this is the good part. i have a pair of matt black (but the dye is fading, i love in them practically) Dr Martens, an old edition that i think went for about $300 and thay were given to me (they are 8-ups, with inch thick soles, thicker but softer leather than standard and they have an extra strap bit on them) or- a pair of Demonia Riot-20s, black steelcapped knee highs with 5 straps on them and they were about $250 if i had paid for all of it then i wouldnt have half of it lol but its mainly stuff i massed over a few years, but i had to fork out for the buckles, patches and spikes. its not hard to dress this way, and if you have a big family you should be able to get some hand me downs (that actually turn out to be more comfortable and look better coz they arent brand new, get stuff thats still in good condition) for example my cousins in the army, so he gives me his boots when he gets new ones and an aunty has a friend in who works in a prison and i got a great trench off them for free, i got the jacket as an anniversary gift and the jeans as a birthday gift you just need to play your cards properly and sometimes make up a bit of a story to do with them. if its possible for someone like me who hardly ever has money and both my parents were on drugs and shit like that usual story then most of you guys can. oh, and a mohawk is easy to do, free and looks great Jun 02, 09 | 3:18 am
