Myspace is really a better website.

YOu can;t hear music on facebook, the live stream thing is really, really retarded, the layout bland and now that mysapce copied the better features of facebook, why not stay on myspace?

Myspace also has better privacy, and doesn't keep you data for as long as fecebook when you resign.

also, facebook, a couple of months ago changed their webdesign from logic, practicality to utter shite...

unfortunately most of my friends do facebook now, so mysapce I only go on to talk about warhammer...

Facebook is better than myspace for socialising with people you already know. Myspace is only good for talking to new people (but not really that good anyways) and listening to new music. In my world you can't really compare the two communities since they are used for different things.

I don't think MySpace really works for socializing at all. I never use my MySpace. It's just a crazy dump of annoying band requests now, and I never communicate with anyone. Facebook promotes constant communication.

this is so fucking stupid

EVERY SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE IS JUST ANOTHER WAY THAT SELF CENTERED PEOPLE PROMOTE THEMSELVES AND THEIR PATHETIC LIVES IN IGNORANT AND ANNOYING WAYS. TO CARE FOR SOMETHING THIS PATHETIC - POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY - GIVES IT ATTENTION IT SIMPLY DOES NOT DESERVE.

but myspace is better for bands.

but @ the differences, why is Myspace so crappy to communicate?

that live stream is not communication, it is pointless dribble, and vain crap...

@SUmez and his bands- I changed my headline to i don't accept band requests and it worked.

and you can change your settings to safeguard their atacks...

FUCK!

Alright. once and for all.

MYSPACE (for the few cretins at the back of the class) is owned by Rupert "Antichrist" Murdoch.

Every dollar he earns from it goes towards things like FOX NEWS.

If you're involved in a (formally, maybe?) politically aware scene like this I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPELL OUT WHY THIS IS A BAD THING!

Seriously!
Is there a store that SELLS clues where you are?????

For real communication I think both Facebook and MySpace suck. Try LiveJournal.

I use MySpace to check out music and that's about it. I use Facebook to loosely network with coworkers and other people I don't really care about (including extended family)

@COTBT

just use something like email or msn or phone or something that is actually meant for communication.

social networking sites are not. dont kid yourself. they are places where people write paragraphs about themselves and their lives with no intention of reading about anyone elses.

what these sites are doing are psychologically altering how people perceive the world. people learn from a young age that world is full of people and how they interact with and create relationships with one another is important (biologically, so the race can continue and so forth). what things like this are doing is making people believe that they are infact the most important thing in their world. its making people obbsessed with themselves. it can be compared to aspergers (i can't spell) syndrome, where people psychologically lack the ability to empathise with others, and struggle to see how their actions effect others.

i'm not trying to rant at you here, i'm just trying to show you why i dislike myspace and facebook and all that type of thing. use it and enjoy it, but be aware that there are simpler ways of communicating with your loved ones.

yes i understand your points and mostly you are right, but you can filter it to just see your TRUE friends, and thus communications. sometimes you just have to make an effort. and what does all that bullshit you (and I hate) matter if it benefits your relationships with your real friends? stoicism is a virtue, and cynicism is not always helpful or practical. sure, be cynical, but stay aloof from what you despise, don't let it bother ypou.
I I do email my friends, but they are slow in replying, and sometimes they don't reply.

and you think i have money to use a phone? I don't have access to the landline.

eg. I know classical, and he didn't respond to an email I sent him several days ago...

Yes, TOE has some points. Many of our friends are too unreliable to check voice messages or emails. Yet the same people will respond via Facebook or MySpace. In the end, though, they aren't your real friends. If you can't get in touch IRL, then they are not your friends/family.

^yeah

also, if you are so bothered by people selfishness, why even have them as a friend on the website? what way you don't need to have to make an effort to ignore/not care about what they say.

and, if you really care about others (as you say these people do not), not just yourself, maybe it is beneficial to see how your friends are going?/to read their thoughts at the moment (referring to the facebook system) I certainly would Love to hear about my friends exploits, especially since most of them are doing VERY cool things at the moment.

In a way social networking sites give you a convenient excuse not to see friends. I have friends that I've seen maybe once in the last 2 years. I know what they're up to and so forth, however, because of Facebook, etc. So there's no real incentive to meet up and catch up on anything. Anyway, kind of depressing.

Facebook is a Ponzi scheme.

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to investors from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors rather than from any actual profit earned.

Seriously, tell me that's not Facebook.

At least Myspace can get me laid once in a while!

Now they work... 15 % of the time. Rest 85 % I get error reports.

MySpace is only useful for checking out bands. Otherwise it's a piece of shit full of 13 year old emo girls, 13 year old emo boys that secretly wants to be a girl and old pedos that are grooming the 13 year old boys because they think they're really grooming a girl. Facebook is far superior, even if the applications suck ass.

@ CaptainRetardo:

Please, do me a favour - jump into a well, will you? :)

I need facebook and myspace to keep in touch with the people i care - not 300 000 000 people I never meet in my life nor had anything to do in common with.

Now, go screw yourself, you worthless maggot. Ever since I came back to forum, you pretty much spend most of the time slamming me.

Tell me... is your name, maybe, Khris, from one band that recently gone metal? I would understand your behavior then, if it is...

Maybe there's a reason it's been ten years since you've heard from any of you're friends. Funny how they seep out of the woodwork isn't it? Ten years, yes that's long enough to forget why you lost contact with them...until you write them again, and then it takes 5 seconds, and it all comes back to you! Good Luck with that one.

?

I moved from village where I used to live to a main city of the state where I am. My friends from country never got themselves into computers, modern music, urban civilization... I mean, I rarely find old elementary school friends who listen to rock/metal, less even industrial. This's just music that's sort of 'alien' to them.

Back in the days, I was THE ONLY ONE in the class who read lots of books, lots of comix, lots of mangas, watched lots of movies, etc... living in village, and doing all that certianly makes you odd in eyes of other villagers.

So, after I moved to a "city" (thought my whole country is one big village, lol), I lost contact with them, and recently, after I signed up for FB, I just searched some names I could remember through the Facebook search, and voila - the names poped out.
After I added those names, even more names popped thanx to facebook suggestions application (most usefull FB application and probably the only one which works), heh. Some names I even forgat, and I remembered them only after FB suggested me them as friends / people I know.

So... yeah.
BTW - I dont get the aim of your post? To insult me or to insinuate something?

- You Have Three Days To Pick Your Facebook Vanity URL. Choose Wisely, Or You’re Screwed.

What are you doing this Friday night? Going to a bar with friends? Going to a movie? Wrong.

If you’re a real web addict you’ll be sitting at your computer waiting for the clock to strike 12:01 AM Eastern Time. That’s when Facebook’s new vanity URLs are going to go live, and the landrush to get one will begin.

And it’s going to be a landrush because it’s a first-come, first-serve basis, as Facebook writes today. It looks like Facebook will give you a bunch of options based on your real name, but you can also pick your own vanity name.

But there are some rules:

Facebook usernames will be available in basic text forms, and you can only choose a single username for your profile and for each of the Pages that you administer. Your username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (”.”). While usernames are currently available only for Romanized text, we’re looking at how we might support non-Romanized characters in the future.
