So I have just learned that Tom Shear will also be contributing work to the Bruderschaft album. That guy from Monument (Sven... something) will probably even have a hand in it. I'm thinking that this is the new Pigface of the EBM world - sort of. Comments?

Unless Rexx Arcana's ripping off his artists like Atkins has, I don't think it's the same thing at all. More like a "We Are The Industrial World" thing.

Yeah, it's a "We Are the World" thing, an EBM futurepop group. VNV, Apop, Covenant, A23, IoC, etc...not sure how much each band had a hand in it, but for one song and 50 remixes, I think it's kind of cool.

Rexx wrote the lyrics
Seb wrote the music and produced the song
Ronan sung the lead vocals
Stephan sung the backing vocals
Joachim contributed with a couple of loops.

well at least it's making money for a good cause. I mean, I think Forever's a good track even though they beat it into the ground with all the remixes, but if you want to make money for a charitable project why NOT get all the best guys to do it???

I don't quite think a project with (and no offense to those others mentioned) me, v01d, winterstahl, rivetmike, and xenocanon would do *quite* as well...though I hear rivetmike has the voice of an angel.;)

Hey, I can "when monuments of hurbis past/sands of time" lyric and layer dark anthemic virus cheese like the best of em;)

But yeah, I mean it sold pretty darn well by scene standards, was for a ogod cause, and I LOVE the sero.overdose remix...so to me it's good. Just wish they had more than one song.

And industrial boy band?

I was unaware they had dance moves.

Well, they are doing it for charity so even if the remixes were too overdone,it was all in a good cause.

Have Pigface ever done a charity record? Not that I'm aware of!!!

yeah, but a good cause, which it definitely is, can also be done in total overkill. It'd be different if it was an ALBUM of songs, but getting a million mixes of one (albeit good) track looks ridiculous.

I know for a fact no one in Bruderschaft recieved a snile dime for the work they did in it.
it is all in the name of charity.
but I am not surpriced someone has to whine about that to.

no, they didn't, but at the same time who needs a million remixes of one song? if it wasn't for charity people would all think it was stupid. and if people believed in the project they'd buy it anyway, not just cuz My Favorite Band also did remix #213512 on it.

It's not about profit for people involved with it, it's about overkill.

It's not like Wumpscut or Suicide Commando ever did that kind of single either...
At least Bruderschaft left the 2CD edition as a limited one.

Nonetheless I liked all the re-interpretations. Feindflug and Patrick Codenys versions were outstanding.

Oh sorry we were talking about Bruderschaft. It a bit like this new Band Aid single that has just come our over here. There are people buying it as it's for a good cause and they want to "do their bit" but are then either throwing the disc away (as soon as it's purchased) or destroying it as the song is frankly awful (some documetation here http://bandaiddilemma.net/)

I don't get why they didn't just make a donation....?

I personally bought the Bruderschaft for only a couple of mixes (paid about £16-£17) so if it was a non profit making exercise doen that mean that in this case (and in this case only) I would have been entitled to make an appropriate donation (say...an eighth of the RRP,as that was probably about the number of mixes I enjoyed from the double disc set) to the charity and then download the tracks from a P2P?

I'm not saying I would do the above (I likes my CD covers.......) but I think it raises an interesting question.

Well, I thought it was worth it, and i knew my cash was going to a good place, and that Rexx Arkana ment well, like what else is there to say?
His dad passed away and the net profit from the sale went to Cancer Research.

Really what is there to say? Arkana was doing a good thing.
- It's as simple as that.

hey, chill out. I'm hardly HATING on anything. You're taking my words as stronger than I intended. I just said there were a crazy amount of mixes. Sure, it was a GREAT cause (my dad had cancer too, and luckily lived through it), and I applaud everyone involved, but I just think all that HUGE talent of those who remixed it could have been used for, I dunno, making another couple SONGS (even b-sides) for the single.

Just because I'm being offering a slightly different opinion doesn't mean I don't respect the project, cause, or those involved. I have plenty of facts on the project, forkface, probably just as many as you, so don't get yer panties in a bunch because I think some of the resources could have been used a tad better. Unless thinking I'm ignorant is the only way that you can justify why I mentioned something, then by all means keep on thinking it. All I know is if there was more than one track and a million remixes I personally may have bought it. I think that a few others *may* feel the same way.

But, again, I mean no disrespect to Rexx, the artists, remixers, or Alfa-Matrix.

Just my opinion. Chill out.

Sheesh.

My vote for the "new Pigface" would go more to Parrallel Project. Though it would be more like the Santana of EBM then a new Pigface I guess.

Again, nobody forces no one to buy something or listen to it, so I feel if one decides to buy/steel/download whateverm then why complain later.
That is my point. nothing else.
I didnt say YOU were a hater either.
I was speaking in general.
I men it is like whining about a crappy show on tv, nobody is forcing you to watch it....get it...?

I wasn't really complaining, more making a comment. I readily acknowledged that I liked the track, just thought it had too many remixes. How that is a complaint I'm not sure, as I wasn't criticizing the song, artists, label, or even remixers in any capacity, just that I thought the remixes were a bit overkill.

If I'd bought it and thought the song sucked and THEN bitched about the remixes, then that's another thing. I don't even own it. I was simply making an opinion known that I WOULD have bought it possibly had there been a little more to it. I'm all about supporting causes and think Rexx and crew did a wonderful thing shining some light (and money) on the cause, but I also donate separately of this kinda stuff, so my constructive criticism (funny how that term gets used then bitched on at the same time) was, I think, fairly said.

And, again, I think it was for a great cause. I just don't think you need to get bent out of shape and tell anyone to "get outta here dude" when they're simply expressing an opinion, whether directed at me or whoever. Lighten up. It's not like anyone's saying it's NOT for a good cause or that people with cancer friggin' DESERVE it or anything, so get off your high horse and relax.

God, for an offhand comment in a thread this has gotten WAY overblown by some people. Again, sheesh.

Posts on this forum very often gets overblown by people who state ignorant things, again not refering to you Mr/Ms.Eurotic.
I agree the amount of remixes was overkill, totally, but my post were mainly due to the fact I got an impression people were doubting the true nature of the Forever track, and I know people involved made nothing on this, that was all I was commenting on people.
Get of your cheesy horses.
By get outta here, I dont mean litterarly dude, you know, a figure of speach..

As per the Bruderschaft website:

Bruderschaft continues to work on the follow up to 2003's #1 single, "Forever." State of the Union's Johann Sebastian and Icon of Coil's Sebastian Komor have joined to finish composition on "Return," due out in late spring/early summer.

Bruderschaft are very unlike pigface because everyone involved is from the EBM/Futurepop scene and even the name indicates that kind of feel.

Pigface wasn't really about genre. You could get Ogre from skinny puppy on minute, then that girl from silverfish next. To be honest Skinny Puppy and Silverfish are miles apart.

Bruderschaft aren't my cup of tea but I respect that what they're doing is for charity and if I were ever asked to be on a charity record I'd go for it unless it was something like the "gas all muslims" charity that will probably turn up in middle america at some point.
