I'm sorry to quibble, but I saw the tracklist you posted, and Seven Trees is contributing the song, "Present Decay". that song is 15 years old, if it is the same one as A2 on http://www.discogs.com/Seven-Trees-To-Live-Is-Regret/release/1359379. the song was re-arranged and released on their debut, Embracing The Unknown, as well.

As a side note, I think it's interesting how much attention this release has gotten. Normally, no one would even know about, but you've been on here every other day bumping the thread and hyping it up, saying it's the best thing since sliced bread. I think that's great, that's how you actually sell stuff. People who complain all the time about how they can't sell their cds should pay attention to what you do, cuz it appears like you know what you're doing. Anyway, I don't know a lot of the bands either, but what really sells it for me is the yelworC exclusive.

Also, I fondly remember when I used to go out and buy compilations and could discover new music that way.

50 bills for something pressed locally, and before shipping ! Why such a rip off? Most 4cd box sets these days come in around 30.
Presumably this is because you are giving away 20% of copies for free? Why are you doing that? So basically the people on the street are covering the cost of these free copies and the postage for them, is that right?

well, I'll still be buying this , but it sure isn't the 'there is no time part 2' that I expected [pricewise]!

It is expensive but I also know Mr EAR has spent years on this project so would good to support the effort.

A year go I’d not think twice about spending 50 Euros on a 4 CD set as it would work out around £30. With the euro & pound around the same value I’ll have to think long and hard before buying. EAR just be careful not to over price as I believe you will miss out on potential sales. Plus £50 box, artwork must be top notch.

Concept, music & artwork are top notch. We (participating bands &EAR) will upload snippets to myspace when it's ready.

I'm sure plenty of people here have bought 4 cds @ once at any number of big chain stores- that's about how much you'd pay in say, Virgin or FYE for 4 cds and you probably wouldn't get such a good tracklist...

someone said something about Nader hyping this release by bumping the thread daily.. and that is why theres so much excitement about it.

i don't think thats entirely true.. if at all. i think side-liners have come to know that Nader has his thumb on the pulse of the electro/industrial scene and the projects he praises are worth looking into.

75 dollars isn't cheap. this boxset will be worth every fucking penny. it will sell out.

some people wont be able to afford it? so fucking what. i can't afford a yacht, maybe they should sell those for less.

this boxset will set a precedent and put EAR on everyone's radar if it isn't there yet.

i appreciate all of the work that has been put into this project and can't wait to get my hands on it!!!

People who complain about the price need to remember that there has been enough promotion of this release to have a good idea what to expect on it, not to mention you can listen to nearly every artist on myspace. You know whether this is for you by now. I don't like paying $75 for a new release, but at least I know I will be getting a quality product and will enjoy the music for a long time to come.

If money is an issue, look into your collection at some of the shitty CDs you bought and did not complain about. If you want it as the old saying goes "Where there is a will there is a way". I will buy more than one and sell it to one of the complainers for more than $75 when they realize they should have purchased it right away. I will be waiting for your thirst, until then little chimps sell those shitty cds on ebay, and get a head start on your savings.

Hey, it's a free country/Internet, no one has to buy it. I think that some are just saying that $75 is a lot to spend on cds right now, and it is for some people. No one HAS TO buy it. I think it is a bit high (was thinking more $50-60 range) but then again, most compilations do not get all these exclusive tracks/remixes. Usually only a few are really new. But everyone knows how much it costs, so if they want it they can squirrel some money away. It sounds good to me, I'm glad I know how much it costs so if I decide I want it (which I'm pretty sure I do) I can budget.

It is a bit expensive, but honestly I feel it will be worth the price and I will buy it for sure.

RE: Price of OSE 4CD BOX

I have been thinking about this for a few days now,

1st) $75 seems expensive if you are only looking at this as a money thing rather than something that will bring you a lot joy listening to.

2nd) These tracks, at least a good portion of them would not ever exist if not for this project

3) Basically 3 years of 1 one guy compiling this release with a lot of time & $$$ invested into it.

4) You can't compare what other labels charge for a 4CD box. I don't have insight to what others do, but I can speculate that some labels can make up for a lower price on a 4CD box if they sell more of their other relases. "There is No Time" came out a lifetime ago, Different price ranges back then.

5) I don't think Nader is out to steal your hard earned money. He is giving you exclusive stuff by legenary artists of the past as well as some newer artists out there. There will be no filler.

6) If you are not sure whether this release will please your ears as mentioned above there is a lot of promotion and most artists have myspace or something else to allow you to hear the music.

7) No one is saying you have to buy it. You may regret it, but it's your choice.

8) Looking at some the box sets that come out like certain In Strict Confidence, Front 242, Iron Curtain etc were around 45-70 dollars depending on where you bought it when it was a new release.

9) I look forward to my copies.

10) Be happy someone is putting something together for you. Stop complaining and start saving. $10 Per Week = $70 saved for 7 weeks. Not hard to do even for you poor bastards out there:)

One should never underestimate the power of the underdogs. The talented "newcomers" (some of ém are veteran musicians) such as One Eye Wanders,Teardown, K-bereit,MC1R & To Avoid (to name a few) will blow your socks off!

im looking foreard to being a part of this for sure. its a cool thing. 75 bucks for ruffly 80 tracks.. less than a dollar a piece. and if some are REALLY good they're worth 5-8 times the price to me. muchless stellar ...(justifies 1 stellar song on a standard cd album purchase).

naders heart and integrity are in the right place with this. if you think its too expensive, dont buy it. thats all. and giving the artist that participate a copy or two is understandable if not required. i dont undertand how in this day and age people can complain about someone doing shit because they're really into it and into making something happen.

Nader is giving all he can to make the release of this box set happen.

It is obvious that you cannot please all of the the listeners with every track.

I know in advance that I will not like all Old School EBM tracks as some of them might remind me more of "No School" ;-) but if you take a look at the bands participating and knowing that on this compilation no "(bad) hellektro tool kit" being used (as I experienced on several other samplers) this compilation will be worth buying it.

It is in this so-called "scene" always a must that a moaning and blathering comes before listening and enjoying art (which this compilation files under).

My respect to Nader and also my recommendation to EAR`s previous releases which I already own:

Brain Leisure "Methods To Madness" 2CD

You might have your problems with Nader`s promotion and his way of repeating some expressions/phrases but the quality of EAR´s previous releases speak for themselves

still in sweden. visiting dallas again next month for a much needed brief vacation however. by the way, i am just checking out One Eye Wanders here. nice find. these myspace tracks are not too shabby. some of them recall early period haujobb or thd, the way they are composed, others have a bit more of a creative electro-techno dancefloor groove. "hannya" sounds like something off of Freeze Frame Reality or Frames. that said, there is something unique about this and definitely a large measure of creativity at work. with a little more time smoothing the rough aspects i know this artist could offer something extremely special. :¬.

Yeah Nick (OEW) has great potentials as a musician/graphic artist. OSE isn't an open submission project. All the bands featured on Volume I were meticulously chosen:)

well, yes it does. you can be sure that some of us appreciate your efforts in the end, no matter how 'successful' the result. to be honest, i am not really so involved anymore or keeping up so those swedish bands that you listed there are all new to me. ;¬p i know that the astma band on your first disc is also from here...very daf influenced from what i could tell on their ms profile but they have a couple ok tracks. i was never a huge severe illusion fan but they do have some fine tracks like 'trust' to get lost in. i'm also aware of run level zero but i haven't heard anything in a couple years. i'll check out those others in the coming days.

Ooops I forgot to mention Astma (EAR band). I like their sound quite a bit:)

If all goes according to plan (3 more tracks to go), I'll start taking pre-orders around mid July. Get ready for a CAUSTIC dose of pure old school awesomeness!
