California goths dance as though they're directing traffic. Texas goths, well, you go to the club and there's like three people there.

Brand new state!
Brand new state, gonna treat you great!
Gonna give you barley, carrots and pertaters,
Pasture fer the cattle,
Spinach and termayters!
Flowers on the prarie where the June bugs zoom,
Plen'y of air and plen'y of room,
Plen'y of room to swing a rope!
Plen'y of heart and plen'y of hope.
Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma,
Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say
Yeeow! Ayipioeeay!
We're only sayin'
You're doin' fine,
Oklahoma!
Oklahoma O.K.

Texas has a bangin scene in Dallas/Ft. worth. SA, Austin, and houston not so much. Its a little surprising actually since those cities are soooooo huge. ppl in SA really come out in mass for shows but not so much for club nights.

Was it at the Stromkern/PTI gig? Either way, there was a promoter/DJ guy that would just play the worst possible music. He thought it was just the funniest thing... my wife was with me once and it caused to leave.
Elysium does have a couple great DJ's though. (although, I had requested some new music and the guy looked at like, "HUH???". :P

i've watched that Austin City Limits a couple of times on PBS. man, those hippie bands get into some weird grooves sometimes.

@ helosix

It was actually over the Thanksgiving weekend, so that's not really fair. I remember some great times there though. And Frap ... and Tor. :)

@heretic909

LOL! I was actually thinking more along the lines of VNV or KMFDM type bands. :)

lol yeah, i know. just some saturday nights when i'm too hammered to work on shit, i'll lay drunkenly on the couch and flip the channel to pbs and see some of those hippie bands. it's either that, or those bands on 'fear tv' on fox after midnight.

What are you talking about, Houston has the strongest scene in Houston. Dallas doesn't even make noise at a Prince concert.

Heading out to Elysium now to catch De/Vision. Not my favorite band but I am sure it will be a good time. Have to support the local scene right?
If anyone else is going... I'll be the old guy with the F242 shirt. :P
