I honestly think KLINIK has been important and influential enough in our scene to have a tribute CD and I think that alfa-matrix, them being a Belgian label, would be the right label to do so.

agreed... look at what it did for suicide commando
actually, i wish to see KLINIK do something like F242 did with "Geography" (I wish it would have been "Official Version" but...) I'm not sure which KLINIK album I would choose...hmm...they all have great work on them... I do not like tributes very much.

I like OLD Klinik and wouldnt mind a tribute to be honest, but I'd much rather see something like that get performed for bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242, or even SPK..
Puppy had a tribute album, Ministry, Coil, etc. Most of the bands like Cabs, 242, and SPK were doing this stuff years ahead of everyone else and are still involved in the scene making music, producing, or mixing!

Why would anyone abhor a re-release? We get stuff remastered (lets face it...ALOT and I mean ALOT of music before say 92 sounded like SHIT). If it's only previously on Vinyl, we get to hear a fresh copy without pops/clicks, hiss etc.
And, just because it's a rerelease doesn't mean the orginal doesn't have value. I just saw a promo copy of the first Prodigy CD going for $122 USA eBay
This thing isn't even out of print.
I have 3000 CDs, alot of rereleases and orginals, and to be honest I love it when rereleases come out.

the klinik albums will indeed NOT be remastered, which I think is a shame... but if that is the option hands want to take, that's their decision, each label is free to do what they want.

Allow me to clarify: If the release was originally only on vinyl or cassette, then a re-release is a good thing as it sucks shuffling between formats, and CDs are the best format out there right now. In all other cases, re-releases suck. I dont care that they are remastered-we are fans of that artist and we have loved *that release for years as it is so why remaster it? Since when do rivetheads like clean production? I know I dont. What I really hate is when something gets re-released and the only difference is the cover art, the remastering, and especially if there is one extra track or remix. So I'm like great, now because there is a new song, I have to get that even though I have the original.....FUCK!

Most of the Klinik catalogue did allready appear on cd through the Antler rcords label. But the original maxi-elpees were all on vynil.
The re-issues of Hands will be the third time the Klinik records will be available . I think it's a bit overkill...

I like clean production when I became an anal audiophile and realized "Holy hell, there are so many sounds going on this remastered edition I never heard in the old one". Perfect examples: Skinny Puppy Rabies old version versus remastered, Coil Horse Rotovator old vs remastered, etc.
I dont know if was the industry at the time in the mid 90s or what, but there buttloads of CDs where the quality is just subpar. Im cranking the stereo up to 6 or 7 just to get bass and hear the CD "normally". This is with alot of Celtic Circle acts like Splatter Squall - The Spell, yelworC Blood In Face, FLA Gashed Senses, and so on.
Believe me, I am through the roof when I am finally able to get old tapes and vinyl releases on CD (I dont care for cassettes or vinyl other then vinyl has more of a pleasing aesthetic look to it). On the same hand though, for me personally, it gets frustrating when the CDs are mastered at such odd levels. (FLA/Delerium in later days, always have amazing production and mastering on their CDs).
And finally, for an older sob like myself, who has all the Klinik discs already on Antler, the only thing I *could* hope for is a remastered version..or extra tracks..or reissue of some older side projects Marc did like Para, D-Sign, etc since that stuff is impossible to obtain for most people anymore ;0
Dont get me wrong, I appreciate that Hands is reissuing this stuff as alot of people do not have any of those Klinik titles..but the remastering would be a nice touch for those who already have all this stuff from years gone by..

i understand your hesitation to accept the re-issue.
i like new as well as i enjoy an older raw sound. (mostly for personal audio experience at home) besides, it sometimes helps when a work is remastered because it becomes thicker and can be mixed with other selections that have undergone similar mastering. damn... the old geography stuff sounds ten times better now! i can actually play this at the club without adding tons of eq

Yep, I know what a pain in the ass it can be to try to get something like "20 Deadly Diseases" setup in a club.
Side-Line: OoOoOo! I hope that comment is somehow in refrence to the Para, D-Sign etc stuff getting reissued! ;p

I have Para-Zentese (or at least I will tomorrow), but I am still desperately hunting down Burning Cells by D.Sign. X10 is pretty sweet too-I have Semblance...still looking for s/t feat Tec Trance
Never thought of the clucb aspect of the re-releases-that is a good use for them I guess, but since I am a home listener, that doesnt really matter to me. Plus I dont know if I even would notice a difference in the older vs. remastered editions of a song if it was played at a club

The majority of people out there, old stereo or high end, can usually tell a difference. I worked in a store for a few years and we had people try to return CDs even because the mastering was so horrible on them.
I had singled out yelworC's "blood in face" release in particular because old yelworC has some great club tracks on it and people always want to hear it but the quality is about as good as listening to a cassette heh.
I listen to stuff at home all the time. Its amazing how big a difference a remastered CD can make versus an older, non remastered one. You can hear stuff you never heard before and everything doesnt sound so muffled. But I guess that comes to personal choice and perfection. I listened to cassettes enough in the 80s; I want things clearer now ;)

I've got the Burning Cells maxi lying around here somewhere, but I find it a bit disappointing. Same goes for X10. I prefer the early creations of Marc Verhaeghen, and the stuff he did on the Hands label with Klinik.
It would be great to get a reissue of those damn' hard to find split record with De Fabriek or the bootleg Braindamage. I thought I had bought a copy but instead it was a recording of the bootleg they had put on cd.

I like From Klinik To X10 so I am still going to seek out D.Sign and that other X10 release. I think the hardest thing to find by Klinik is going to be the Klinik/Mark Lane split release. About a month ago I saw Braindamage on ebay three times, but I was out of a job and broke as fuck at the time and I havent seen it up there since. The only things I'm missing for Klinik are The Mark Lane split, Braindamage, The De Fabriek split, and the two newest ones (Akhet and Dark Surgery)

Dark Surgery did not grow on me, too trancey for me, ok, you may like trance, but that is not what I expect from the Klinik...
About the split with Mark Lane, the tracks were released on CD I think, maybe the re-release of "Who's really listening?".

Those last two releases from Klinik are truely superb !! Especially the Akhet cd ! ! (the other one is "sonic surgery", not dark surgery... no ?)
They are very dark ambient like, not at all like the songs Mark Verhaeghen did on previous labels. Go get them NOW !!
PS There's no way you can check wether it's the real thing with those Braindamage bootlegs ! The one I bought looked pretty real, but appeared to be as "$#@!" as hell.
