i'm pretty surprised there are tons of goth metal fans in my country but virtually nobody listens to electro equivalents of that. there were so many people with katatonia t-shirts, not the most famous goth-pop band, but doh' :)

Electronic Music got a bad name because of acts like this one

I can see why I would not risk buying no electronic music if these guys were the first I stumbled apon on the scene.

I wouldn't say that Katatonia are anything to do with goth, to be honest. They're more of a lighter doom band.

a lot of metal fans dont even give electronic music a chance because most everything is sequenced, theres no drummer, and you can't really "play" it live.

just the other day i was letting a friend hear some of the new tracks ive been working on, which has suprisingly gotten a very positive reaction from a lot of metal/hc fans. his response was "dude, you know i can't like this stuff. im a drummer." he refuses to accept there's more that can be done with a drum machine than 4/4 dance music, and hes constantly trying to tell me that with enough practice, he could play the exact same things i program. we're talking 170-200bpm beats each with at least 2-3 snare drums and 2 high hats playing simultaneously. you would need 2 drummers or a guy with 6 arms for that to be physically possible. its like he's afraid drum machines are going to put him out of business or something...

but a lot of metal guys ive met, usually in bands themselves, have echoed a similar pov about electronic music.

Why is Joe is standing off kilter? ... maybe he has back problems from looking in the mirror far too often wondering why he wears such wierd ugly shirts.

Who is the band on the photo?

About metal fans & dark electronic music: usually metal fans like this kind of music (at least the less clubby type) because you can find some elements or feelings somewhere closed to what you experience when you listen to black metal or gothic metal.Read the interview of tamtrum on the first side-line page and you'll learn how metal fans can get into electronic music (I followed nearly the same way,a few years ago I was only into black & other genres of metal).
And the real reason why the majority of these people do not listen to this kind of music is mainly because they ignore its existence (for some of them,it's also because they are "true purists" who cannot betray their roots ;-) ).

#Chris #2: I bet Goro from Mortal Kombat would make a bad ass industrial drummer.

He'd also be handy for dealing with annoying fans.

Another reason, because metal heads are sometimes biased

There is nothing wrong with live drumming as long as it is in the "Motorik Beat" vain... Listen to Neu!

@ Industro....I was guilty of not even being open to listening to anything without musicians at every position. And it had to have lots of guitar riffs.

@Malfunct.....What country is that...though I suppose the answer is not important. Either people can get into good music or not, it really revolves around their mindset, not where they are from. Just interesting in how this forum has people from all over. Can you name some good electronic goth? Listening to The Dreamside right now, which I like. But I shy away from the more operatic stuff.
