Fluid,

This has got to be the most ridicules thing you have posted (and that says a lot). You talk like "Goths" aren't part of the human race...you need to check into the real world and what is going on once in a while.

"all in black a gothic minister"

Gothminister does weddings? Whoa...

My plan is to dress up like Hunter S Thomson and get married in Vegas, by a midget Elvis impersonator.

i am getting married at 30 june, with some small gothic elements in the total to use for entertainment, just as an extra original touch, not like a shallow evil content. we do it in a small church, afterwards a reception in a venue and after that dinner, and then it is partytime, with two ofg my favorite befriended bands angles & agony and misery live on stage, some good dj's and a lot of goth and non goth people, family, friends etc all in one party. this is going to be fun!

There was not a touch of goth/industrial ridiculousness whatsoever in my wedding. Just a basic, beautiful ceremony and reception. I didn't want anything in my wedding that I may regret later in life (aka: Trying to look EXTREME and SHOCKING, which may be embarrassing 10-20 years down the line).

The people in attendance however, that's a different story. Lot's of colorful hair, black clothes and whatnot... ;)

the singer for my old band & his exwife had a "gothy" wedding. red & black, hired a club dj.

i've heard stories about people having weddings on halloween in the forest, but i have yet to witness one.

most people i know will have a semi regular wedding to apease the folks & the bride will wear docs under her poofy dress or something & they'll have a mix of traditional & club music. i did sound for a couple weddings & made mix disks (i am not a dj). i played a bunch of ambient during dinner & arrival. then ramped things up over the course of the evening.

my wedding wasnt 'gothic' per se as much as 'us'. My ex wore a white dress, i wore a tux, only difference was all the guys in the wedding, and myself were wearing Doc's. our song we danced to was 'some kind of stranger' by the sisters.

we all got completly trashed, and its all a big blur. good times, haha

Congrats TekNoir! - I am getting married soon as well - May 6th! We are having the DJ Alex Vance who was thee DJ for Club Zadar in New Hope, PA USA in the 80's. He also worked for Rock America for a the time. We are going to definitely have some favorites played including Death In June, Sphan Ranch, Puppy (of course), The Damned, Nitzer Ebb etc as well as a hardcore set! As for the wedding itself it will be full of Punks, Rivetheads and Goths as well as regular folks that just want to wish us well so the Glenn Miller and Rolling Stones and whatever will be played - but usually by that time everyone is drunk enough to dance to the Bee Gees anyway so who gives a shit. BUT NONE OF THAT ELECTRIC SLIDE OR ALLEY CAT CRAP!!!! When it comes down to it you do have to think of everyone there. You can play your own faves anytime but they are showing up to celebrate your union and give you a present. That's the way I see it anyway =:)

Tek, I wish you well - is it a private show you have the bands playing at? Sounds awesome!

My wedding was held at ruins, in Victorian dress (both myself and my wife),
Gothica (the band) was the music we marched down the isle too. At the reception it was Die Laughing, Switchblade Symphony, Faith & the Muse while we ate. After the speeches it was a mix of wedding favs, 80's and goth/future pop stuff.

We held the reception at a nice hotel (Radisson) so the food was amazing and we decked out the tables in total goth elegence - if you saw Marilyn Mansons recent reception it was very similar but obviously without the expensive glasses etc. It so happens I'm related by family lties to an established fashion designer, while gushing over our 2003 wedding he was quick to whip out an issue of Vogue with Mansons wedding inside. He left our house with dvd copy of our wedding to show his students.

The funny thing is so many morons think that a "Goth Wedding" is going to be some lo-brow event that is a tacky, cliched affair. Fluids question is a great example of this - well done! Though I'm hardly surprised coming from Fluid...

Goth would actually be perfic for a wedding. A gothic cathedral, people in suits, statues, candles, only thing is that everyone'd be wearing black. You do that at funerals. Oh and there's an old custom. If the bride's a virgin she wears White. If she's a slut she wears Black.

No, not awesome, just frazzled and pushed over the edge. Ok, it was cool seeing their faces. They were too shocked to say anything, but if they did I would have totally lost it. They would <so> know the difference between goth and industrial if I had to make their ears bleed, which I would. Masonna ho!
Was that a question? 'Cause I'm very not to be. Single since.. uh... forever.

How does one decide to go about and get married, anyway? To be a little on topic here.

Not really sure why everyone disses the poster. It's an honest question.

I went to one "gothic" wedding. It was just as boring as any other wedding. The ceremony was normal, except the bride and groom were wearing the special outfits out course. Afterward, they were playing the normal stuff you might expect: VNV, Wolfsheim, etc.

Oh, and I think it's completely stupid how people differentiate between goth, industrial, noise, etc. It's all the same fucking scene. So you can have an "industrial" wedding and people will still be wearing the same clothes as a goth wedding. They'll probably be playing the same songs.

Why is everyone so hung up on these labels? Like, if someone asks me what I listen to, I might say ebm. I get a blank stare, and then I say gothic/industrial. Another blank stare, and then I say dark electronic music. Another blank stare. Um, stuff like Nine Inch Nails. Oh, okay.
