metropolis records has announced they will be producing a limited label box set containing all their releases from MET 001 - MET 400 in celebration of the label's long runninc success.
along with this gigantic set is said to included various promotional materials pertaining to the artists suchs as posters, post cards, ltd dj promo cds including exlusive & rare mixes & discontinued merchandise suchs as shirts and badges which were never used and stored within their headquarters packed away. of course this big collection wont come without a big price at an early rumored $5000US per set. each collection will also come in a special metropolis silver metalic cabinet case, the shipping & handling inside the continental US will be around an additional $200. and if you've read this far and think any of this is true you dont know me very well so yes this was all bullshit. but what if metropolis records released their entire back-catalogue as one gargantuan set with included rareties, would any of you be interested? how much would you be willing to pay? http://www.metropolis-records.com/ Mar 07, 06 | 7:59 pm

I think he's asking if you would pay for it if it existed.
$5000 means $12 per release which is way too high IMO. When you buy in bulk you expect a discount as should be the case here. What Metro releases that are out of print have a high value on the reseller market? Mar 07, 06 | 9:03 pm

LOL, you suck. i read all the way through that thing thinking "can metropolis really be serious?! $5000??" i think a back catalog collection would be cool, but i dont know how practical it is at a price tag like $5000. i dont think theres a lot of people in the scene or in general that are willing or able to pay that kind of money. I could see Metropolis releasing something along the lines of Wax Trax's "Black Box" for focusing on their back catalogue at $200, but from what I understand thats not their focus right now. just look at the fact that they've recently signed Ken and Electric Six... the second paragraph in my post "if you've read this far and think any of this is true...",
i'm asking 'what if?', would anyone be interested in such a thing, what extras would they like to see included, how much would people be willing to pay? i've been into industrial music for about as long as metropolis has been releasing albums, i used to order from them when they were digital underground and i still have a few of their catelogues. in the beginning, my friends and i used to literally buy every metro release that came out, and we thought the unorigional numbering system was great so we actually sorta had this unsaid competition amongst one another of buying all the albums that were put out by metropolis. obviously once metro got really big and their roster and releases entered the hundreds we all sorta gave up on that and just resorted to buying stuff we really liked. but the idea was in the beginning to have a collection of every metropolis release. i was wondering if metropolis today created sorta like a label mega collection what sort of interest others would have in owning every metro release? @ theoryzero,
dont forget, in the price you'd be getting a lot of extras of rare and discontinued merchandise, promos and other fan collectables which for anyone who are fans of the metropolis roster could put almost any personal value on. as well, i also said it should come packaged in a llimited custom metropolis silver colour metallic speaker cabinet case large enough to fit everything, that alone would cost a couple hundred. but as i also asked, what would you think a collection of the entire metro catalogue should be priced at if it were sold as a set? i merely shot out the number $5000.

the thing is that 90% of metro's back catalog is still available. there are a couple of old things i haven't been able to get ahold of (i think one or two old numb releases, for instance,) but that's about it.

I think a LOT of people who wouldn't find value in the purchase wouldn't purchase it. I wouldn't even consider such a collection it unless it also came with a hard drive with everything on mp3/ogg as well. I'm not sure what I'd do with 400 CDs. That's not mobile or anything. Now I could stick all/most of that on my mp3 player. I wonder if music DVDs will ever hit it big? Or mp3 CDs/DVDs? That might be an alternative. Mar 09, 06 | 3:49 pm
