Regarding Tribantura: They made some noise with "Lack Of Sense". I would have liked some more material from them. The same with Brigade Werther. One song and gone.

well.....I'd have to say that I don't think most of these bands were overlooked. I mean most of them
were on the big (within the scene of course) labels (antler, energy, KK, zoth, KM, machinery..), with good distribution (spv in most cases) and so had the same shot at greatness as the bands on those labels who became much bigger. I think if you had a good record deal, the label did their bit to promote you, and you still didn't make it, well, hmmm...tells it's own story really. (Unless of course you split up after 1 single, or deliberately avoided success or something..). Would that not be fair to say? PS: I would not lump pouppee into this bunch. Surely they can't be considered as overlooked? Feb 28, 06 | 5:27 pm

Agreed on New Zone. Had a lot of their stuff on cassette. I'm still searching for a few rarities in digital format cause they're all gone now... Nostromo Dept... owned! Master Program... cool stuff.. sometimes a little too 242ish. Umo Detic... Come on, it's 2/3 of Bigod 20! Konzept... One of my favorites, but their dirty secret was one of the main brains went on to form Captain Hollywood Project ;) and Blind Vision's "Don't Look at Me" is one I've been searching for, for quite a while. fast, hard minimal/body music. They also made some great minimal electro pop tunes like "Plastik"... I 2nd Sigumund und sein freund, esp the 12" "Sacred" and "Secret". Great stuff! ACB and EF, do you listen to Flowerpot Men? Very very good stuff. DAF meets Suicide at a rockabilly party. They released a few great EPs. Mar 05, 06 | 7:55 pm

It's ok, I know Christiaan personally, and acquainted with the others. My understanding (haven't chatted to C in a while) was that bjorkk, ouilla and jonas are through with PF, and the new PF material would be by leif + volt - the same as the PF lineup that I saw play in Dessau last year. I could be wrong, since like I said, it's been a few months since I caught up with Christiann.....

Mekanik Kommando !!! First coupla albums like "Snake Is Queen" (Crow !!!), "Bay The Moon", especially do the trick for me... what`s the thing with the several dutch minimal bands, after the first, initial minimal/experimental/dancy faze, introducing "spoken word", pianos, more ambient, serious atmospheres in their latter releases ? That was the case with Minny Pops, Nasmak, Mekanik Kommando and I think a few more ? is it LPD`s fault perhaps... or whose ? Mar 09, 06 | 5:50 pm

@ satan242: You have picked out some very rare to find names. From your 5 acts I know only those both acts from Sweden,
Native Soil - I have 2 original demo tapes of them here, minimal EBM, maybe a bit like Inside Treatment. The Awful Death - They were featured on a split-CD compilation "Malleus maleficarum" released by Death Publishing (maybe their own label???) back in 1991 I think. Cool Dark Electro. I would think a lot of people paid attention to this release (1st CD) because of Dirk Ivens leaving The Klinik. Also: Metropolis Umo Detic No More Mar 15, 06 | 2:43 pm

Marc,
Native Soil made at least 7 tapes. One of the two members from the Awful Death was involved in Death Pubishing, the people from Chirurgie Estitique were not. Chirurgie Estitique split up just after that compilation was released. I dont think any of the members ever made any music after that. Mar 15, 06 | 3:12 pm

There was a song called 'Redemption' by a band Ferro Concrete, 12 years ago on an obscure Rotation.3 compilation. Anyone heard it? That was AMAZING song, I listen to it very often and sadly there's NO information about this band (or most likely one-off one person project) on internet... I'd recommend this song and whole Rotation.3 compilation to all fans of older electro music...

i think Insurgent from canada was a very overlooked old-school band. their 1st cd "system structure security" is simply a blast!
violent, apocalyptic and dangerous stuff in the vein of skinny puppy/ministry with some dark-ambient hints... Mar 16, 06 | 12:15 am

@ stmayhem:
Ferro Concrete - right on: I have contacted this guy back in 1996 for the Vertigo magazine (R.I.P.) - and the luck I had - I could get a 90 minutes long demo tape of them. Their music was awesome and they had a few tracks which are better then "Redemption". You have to know, that they have recorded "Redemption" especially for this Kugelblitz compilation in the studio of Sevren Ni-arb (XMTP). The original version is more rough. Unfortunatly this band ended up because of different music views between singer and the machinist... Mar 16, 06 | 12:40 am

well, it belongs to both eras... Both bands are dead now for sure, especially for PF7 it was a long and slow death. The latest plans of Alfred were to release their ready done follow-up CD (Absent Minded) and/or a "best of..." with new and unreleased tracks (PF7) in a box set compareable somehow with that Amgod piece. I have been friends with Don of PF7 for a while now. I think the last thing he did officially is the remix for us on "Synapse", and a remix for our canadian friends "Scrape". The last new music I have heard from Don was 2003. I love the new direction I heard and I have been bugging him to make more..heh

@ soilodge: Hi Michael, it is just a pity that they died that slow. Don lately has sold most of his equipment out of his studio. He sent me a demo CDR with 6 of their last recorded tracks and with a lot of remix works (like the ones you mentioned...). CCP wanted to do this "Best of" with this 6 new tracks, some rare to find pieces (like that "Headkick" track from "our" Vertigo comp...) and some of their very best classics. Until now this never happened and I also don't know if this plans are still up to date...

I'll try to find out. It's been a very long time that they were active. They probably went down the technoroute into total anonimity never to be seen or heard from again, like most Dutch EBM acts.
But rumour has it that Image Transmission are seriously considering making a short comeback and record some new stuff. The remixed old tracks on their site are quite nice. Mar 21, 06 | 2:03 am

I of course have that Morgue debut, which was a CD release of their great "Scatology" demo tape. Morgue played ONE gig in Germany, together on a small festival with my old band Evil Sermon in Bremen and the special guests Last Delay. I was one of the organizers, he-he. Gil of Morgue was a close friend of mine to that days and he visited me and my family in my area. So bad, that I missed his contact through the years.
About Simbolo: the most "must-have" is the re-release of their demo tape "Into The Danger Zone" on Cri Du Chat. I still have it here and it is much better than "Le Sacre...". Has anybody heard the Brazilian classics Homicidal Feelings and Cybernetic Faces? Apr 14, 06 | 11:43 am

E-Freak: Hi Nader, I hope you are doing well. Sorry, no, I don't have that Glatze stuff. I wasn't too much into that Calva stuff, most Goth kiddies were and did storm the dancefloors - baah, I found the pieces quite annoying...
Nader, I am pretty much sure that Lost Image have also released a special X-mas MCD with only three tracks right after "Electrocution". i think it was quite meant as a joke release. Do you have this limited item? A/Q: Joo Frank, lass mal hören, was Dich da überrollt hat... Apr 16, 06 | 1:09 am

Even though they have been already mentioned a couple times I'd have to say DRP as well. Electro Brain 586 is great and the track "Enkephalin" is one of my all time favorite tracks. I guess this was the only CD they released. They had a track ("Warp") on a Kk records comp and was said to be from a forthcoming album. I guess this never came to light. I might also agree with 2nd Communication but they had a problem of making their songs a little too long, however "Le Fung (Bright Red Version)" will always hold a place in my heart.

Well it was a 9 CD package and i cannot *really* complain cause the endprice was quite cheap:
LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS - Biohazard (MCD, 1992) (this one is the best of them all, without question ) NEW MIND - Zero to the Bone (Album, 1995) IMAGE TRANSMISSION - HLC (Album, 1995) INERTIA - Advanced Relevation (Album, 2002) ACCESS DENIED - Bridges rmxd (Album, 2001) CAT RAPES DOG - Superluminal (MCD, 1991) HALOBLACK - Tension Filter (Album, 1994) CULTIVATED BIMBO - Blasting in Progress (EP, 1992) BEBORN BETON - Concrete Ground (Album, 1994) (this one is also quite good, but not as good as the albums before it and the 2 after it - i had this CD before some time and sold it cause i got bored, but now i have it back + would say it is still the 2nd best of the package ) I also bought in the 2nd hand shop: OOMPH! - same (a rerelease with 1 unreleased track as well 3 mixes from the best german sung songs - really recommended. I guess it is remastered also) Portishead - Dummy (TripHop,Dub....cool,cool ) Saafi Brothers - Mystical Cigarettes (Ambient,Dub,Goa - nice relaxed instrumentals) Celtic Frost - Parched... (a comp of early songs/demos/unreleased from this cult metal band) Apr 16, 06 | 10:17 am

@ Nader/E-Freak: I don't have IC434 CDR, I have both originally tapes, ha!
Unfortunatly I don't have that Ogo CD, shit. Have heard their angry stuff since a while back. They are heavily underrated and almost unknown (try and ask somebody else here about Mexican acts besides Hocico, Amduscia, Artefakto or Deus Ex Machina...). About Inside Treatment: Their debut "Isolated..." is their best one. My favs are "Black Expression", "Pandaimonium" and "Walk Alone" @ electroblue: try also to get "Trans-Europa" CD compilation, released 1989 in collaboration between the New Life magazine and Front Music Production. The CD version of this comp holds Inside Treatment's "Reinforcement FX", a track out of their demo tape phase... By the way: "Klaustrophobia" from their second album "Underneath..." is also from their demo tape phase... Apr 22, 06 | 2:34 am

Demog: Hi Andy, neee - hatten wir noch nicht.
Scapa Flow indeed released before much better (+ and very old-school influenced...) stuff, especially with their first "The Guide" (FMP/Parade Amoureuse) and also the second one "Chased By Sunset" (Energy Rec.) I saw them live together with Pouppee Fabrikk in a small town named Nordenham (yes, Tyske Ludder are hailing from there too...) back in 1991. I'll never forget this great gig, especially when screaming "Joooiiinnn Thhheeee Liiinnneee!!!!" in the micro..... May 06, 06 | 4:49 pm

@Marc: my fave from Scapa Flow is"heads off to freedom". the reason is simple: i'm not too much into minimalistic sounds and arrangements...but that's just a matter of taste.

electrofreak:
Good evening, Nader. Oh man, you drop some salt on my open wounds here. Pro Patria was the third band intended to be out under my CCP side-label Crippled Abortion (first was Last Delay MCD "Jail", second intended was System Der Dinge with CD and MCD - CD got later released through Tommy/DSBP, some "Mindfire" remix works can be found on some comps to that time...). The Pro Patria CD was ready done, also the planned MCD (including "Hard Times"), but it all never came out, and I am sure it never got pressed. Unfortunatly Alfred stopped with CCP all activities - he should still hold in his hands a ready mastered CDR of their amazing EBM stuff. We three guys of the to that time still active Vertigo also received one copy - but I never had it in my hands, although I asked to get the stuff immediatly. Peter Vercauteren (also the vocalist of Pro Patria...) heard about the stop of CCP and contacted me a few times on the phone and he also asked how to continue. I've told him that I would try my very best to find another interested label - but this failed, because I never get their stuff. Then this all turned into silence and I have unfortunatly never heard of Peter again. It's a very sad story also for me personally and Pro Patria can be seen as a real victim of that CCP crash. As I said - I heard their complete CD only two times - but you better forget all of their very good done comp appearances. This debut had the ability to kick all out of the field, it was so pretty well produced and worked out. Much more complexity you might have expected from this act, but still with the kind of the old-school sound. I'm very sure - when it got released normally to that time, that this debut was able to grow to one of the best CCP releases ever... Alfred has mentioned with his 2nd try that he wanted to release a "Belgium Box Set" featuring both acts Ionic Vision and Pro Patria... Anyhow I hope that Peter reads this. Maybe somebody here at this forum is able to help and to make a contact to Peter again. I don't know if he's is still around or if he ever has done music again. Mostly he also was very busy at his job, because he was a pilot for the Belgium air force. And as you surely know, Nader: "Only pilots can change the world" All the best Marc May 25, 06 | 12:46 am

Yeah, good band. In the end they self-released the CD and MCD (both as CDRs with self made sleeves) to a few friends and fans. I haven't listened to them in a while, but you're right - I think they were a good progression from their tapes. I was sure I heard that the album did actually make it to the pressing plant, and that those CDs are still lying around in boxes somewhere in a lawyers office or something....who knows... Taking the thread way back sorry. New Beat now that's old skool. Still at least I know those artists, may have to try and hear some of the newer stuff listed here. A Split Second re-released a more up-to-date mix of Flesh and I reckon it was a job well done too the acid sequencers were spot on.

@ raedarius - Yes, very diverse indeed regarding Mr. Jones Machine. I'm still trying to figure out Jouni Ollila’s connection with Project-X. I have a few of their older releases too which are just OK. Again, I was blown away when I found out about Nordvargr's roots. Guess I didn't pay much attention about Pouppee Fabrikk members when I listened to their music years ago. Originating from Sweden could have been a indication. On the other hand the one post MZ412 'Econocon' release was very strange, if you have that. There’s been some good stuff released on Energy Records over the years. Wish I had a copy of “Pouppee Fabrikk – Rage”. I thought 92’s Crusader was well done.

I'll take Borghesia but only if they sound better than that crappy last cd they put out. IMO, they peaked with Escorts and Models. Resistance was pretty good. Dreamers in Colour was the crap.
On another note, any opinions on the new E-Craft cd? I've been looking for sound clips of the new songs with no success. I'm likely going to get it but want some feedback first. Also will be buying the new Proceed "Laut". Excellent group. Jun 08, 07 | 1:35 pm

Immediately after you started this thread I picked up Company Of State "Drowning In Fire"LP. I listened it to it quite often anf it really moved up on the list for favorite old school releases. I have looked for it on CD. Do you know if it was ever released on CD? Unfortunately I am not home much, so vinyl can be tough, especailly when I cannot convert vinyl to MP3 well. Awesome to hear that PF7 is in the line-up! I tried emailing Don myself but I guess I have an old address :( I see his studio site has not been updated since 2003 and he still has the old Noise Process website. The music he was doing in 2003 was great- "Readjusted", was a very cool track and I was anxious to hear more from "Radical Human". Also the CD "Legacy", had some fantastic tracks with old school flavour.

Pouppée Fabrikk are excellent. "Rage" is a good release, though it sounds a bit dated to me these days, however "We Have Come To Drop Bombs", "Betrayal" & "Summoning" are a few of my faves.

Hello All!
Yes, Marc, I eventually picked up on your message. And here is some news on what happened with Pro Patria. After the CCR collapse, we tried to release the CDs from the factory from our own funds because we had been informed that 1000 copies had been made. But to no avail because the factory wanted all debts to be settled before releasing anything. We did do a number of gigs after that. Unfortunately my partner (Bert) and I had grown a bit apart in our musical interests. I then played a concert together with a new partner (David, whom you may know from his solo project "Lith") in Jan '99 in the Cactus Club in Bruges. But due to personal reasons I had to abandon the project rather abrubtly. We played one final gig in Arlon in June 2002 and that was it. The music, however, is still available since I have all the masters. I can therefore provide some home-made CD-Rs without covers to whoever is interested. Gives a nice "post-mortem" feel to it, doesn't it? :-) In fact, if anyone would be willing to publish the music - say, "postume" - feel free to contact me via my private e-mail. And perhaps, just for old-times sake and the fun of it, I would be very happy to do another concert. Cheers, Peter Quid Taces? Convincam si negas!!! Jan 11, 08 | 6:45 am

Actually, one last thing about the reason why we suddenly "disappeared" after the CCP collapse. First was demotivation - obviously. But the second was our "producer" Marc Schellekens. He did all the technical stuff and mastering etc, but was very "possessive". He had offered his services for very little money, but considered us as an "investment". That's why he forced us to agree on 4/12 of the copyrights and that's why we were always forced to insist that SABAM be notified whenever we did a concert. After CCP he tried to couple us with a female voice. The girl was sweet and had a great voice, but in the end it didn't work and I left with "slammed doors". We actually had to nick a copy he had of the masters and the CD for live use at the time because he didn't really let us near them (his "insurance"). And back in '97, it wasn't all that easy to find someone who could copy digitally onto CD-R etc.

hi electrofreak
i am Deak Ferance former groupmember and singer of the Band "Severance". I' m glad that you like that sound. The "Naturecide" M-CD is a rare item nowadays. Well, it is a long time ago when we recorded the songs in our little Studio. often hard work, but it was fun to make. :) Unfortunatley the sound quality is very poor. but nevertheless, it makes me a big smile in my face when you and some others consider it as a "classic". Thank you very much. Udo Wissmann and Eric de Vries are very succesfull wit h"Winterkälte" nowadays, and i am member and producer of the german Band "Drunkness". In case you have further questions about Severance. feel free to ask me ;) greetings from germany, yours, Deak Ferance Feb 09, 08 | 7:47 pm

Dear Peter, sorry that I haven't responded sooner on your posting here. It does finally very good to see you alive and kicking. I have to say sorry and to apologize myself multiple times for the things which have been happened more than 10 years ago. Several bad things coming along with the sudden end of CCP regarding all bands and organizations involved have happened mostly out of my control, but not completely. CCP ended, what we at Vertigo expected - let's say - a half year earlier. Vertigo decided to stop to work under the always and ever happened delays (those delays out of the control of the staff - I mean the delays, because Mr. Alfred hasn't payed some press and printing invoices...). The situation was rather chaotic and impossible to look-through, also we were living too far away in the north, that it was possible to take every weekend a trip of 600 + km to the Ruhr-area. Finally, and that's the point of my control, life did find me and I got a couple with my gf, which is nowaddays my wife with which I have given life to three kids. Your album was about to get released via a collaboration of the sub-label Crippled Abortion and CCP, but it never has been worked out. Same like with you has happened to System Der Dinge, but their album later got released in 1999 via the US-label DSBP. System Der Dinge have gone (r.i.p.) afterwards, which is another sad story, because this album is still considered as being one of the outstanding classic releases for DSBP. Also - that's my personal sad story in this - I don't hold a copy of your album in my hands. I know that the other guy, Andreas, may still holds a copy, but he, as well as Jan, have went their faces totally off the scene. And this since several years. I thought to that time we three were friends, but it seems I was very wrong on this. However, those were the days. Comes the question on you. How do you like to continue? Are you planning to re-animate your project for the sake of "just-doing-music-for-fun"? I then would recommend you to join and visit this forum here, Nader "electrofreak" runs a very promising label, which is made for old-school minded EBM music acts, in case you would still produce some kind of this... He's a relieable partner and we both are collaborating very well, although I'm not signed with my music project on his label. Let me know what you think, hold the contact, you can also write us personal mails on here, and we can discuss about the old days... if you like... Thanks and all the best Marc (www.myspace.com/synapticdefect ) Feb 11, 08 | 3:17 pm

Peter, that's a point of the story I didn't know and have never-ever heard of. I know that you "played" with the idea to integrate female vocals to Pro Patria, since you've told that to me on the phone. But I've never heard of her nor I've seen her... Oh, and the "possessive attitude" of your studio wizzard is also new to me... How did you solve this? Feb 11, 08 | 3:37 pm

Hello Marc!
It's very nice to hear from you again! :-) I'm very happy that you're doing fine these days. Yes, it's true that the CCP collapse caused a lot of agony. I too believed in the projects that you were working on and felt proud to be part of that. And ten years later, I think I have found the energy to take it up again, be it "just for the fun of it", as you nicely said. Nader has immediately contacted me and asked if I could come up with a totally new track for his next "Old School" sampler. So I contacted our old producer again because perhaps the time had come for a reconciliation. After all, he is brilliant in what he does. But after a lot of e-mails over and back, he came up with the price: 1.500€ for one single song! And when I said I was not going to pay that much, even though it is "peanuts" for a professional studio, he became rude again as usual when he doesn't get his way. So I decided to invest a little bit in my own little "studio" with an excellent sound card and Cubase SX. I still have lots of stuff on my old D-20 keyboard because when we were doing our album, I already started working on a second one. So at this moment I've taken up my "Acid Series" project again and am working full speed to finish the first track - "Sulphuric Acid". I'm not sure if I will be able to match the quality of our first album. But I'll give it a very good try nevertheless. I'll do my best to get the track ready before the end of this month, and if you like, I can send you a pre-production mp3 file? Regarding our original album and maxi, if you send me your address via my personal e-mail, I will send you a CD-R copy right away. Cheers, Peter ps: it's nice to be back! :-) Feb 12, 08 | 2:06 am

@ Peter: I'll soon mail you... thanks.
One tip: walk with open eyes through this forum and watch the (perhaps) discussed plans regarding a re-animation (yet another third one...) of CCP. Alfred still holds your stuff of your first album and after that amgod/yelworC box-set released in 2005, he had plans to release another "belgian dancefloor"-box-set, which was planned to offer your album and unreleased Ionic Vision stuff. You'll never know what will happen in some dark laboratories in the Ruhr-area... But if someone knows anything, it will be posted on here... How is it with the rights situation on your first album and MCD? Do you hold all rights or is Marc Sch. involved through an indecent contract? Feb 12, 08 | 8:22 am

Hello Marc!
Regarding the rights, I hold the full production rights. However, Mark Sch. owes 4/12 of the copyrights on the album with SABAM. Personally, I am no longer a member of SABAM (blood-suckers!) but Mark still is I'm afraid. But if the album is released with proper GEMA coordination I don't think it will be a problem. After all, Mark fully agreed with the release through CCP 10 years ago. My new material will be 100% mine though. Cheers Peter Feb 21, 08 | 2:09 am

Ah... good news! I was already running into time constraints because I have to travel a lot over the next two weeks for my job and would hate to deliver a product which I do not consider as finished. But as soon as I have a pre-master version ready, I could always send it to you in mp3 so you can already have an idea. Besides, your expert input would be quite valuable to me.

Here's the press release:
30 years after the release of their debut album, 'Ein Produkt der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft', Düsseldorf's notorious DAF announce the release of "DAS BESTE VON DAF – 20 Lieder der Deutsch Amerikanischen Freundschaft", a new Best Of compilation album and a 2009 tour. The tour includes dates in Germany and one night at The Islington Academy, London on 28th March featuring the classic line up of Robert Görl & Gabi Delgado-Lopez. DAF’s 1980 album, 'Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen', Mute’s first ever album release, featured Robert Görl, Gabi Delgado-Lopez, Chrislo Haas and Wolfgang Spelmans. Following the departure of Haas and Spelmans, the core members of drummer, composer and programmer Robert Görl, and vocalist, lyricist and strategist Gabi Delgado-Lopez continued as a duo and signed to Virgin. It was at this time that DAF released their 3 most commercially successful albums within an 18 month period, 'Alles Ist Gut', 'Gold Und Liebe' and 'Für Immer'. Though operative for only a short time, the DAF sex machine was extraordinarily productive and its impact on electronic music is deep and lasting. In a whirlwind 18 months they released this trilogy of best selling albums whilst pushing the boundaries of experimental and dance music. Robert Görl and Gabi Delgado-Lopez briefly got back together in 1985 for ‘1st Step to Heaven’ and again in 2003 for ‘Fünfzehn neue D.A.F-Lieder’, the 2009 tour is the first time they have toured extensively since the early 80’s and the first UK date for more than 25 years. While British electronic pop pioneers were still mired in alienation or camp futurism, DAF presciently combined disco and electronics in a new, distinctive variant of the Electro scene which was then current in groundbreaking New York clubs. Either leathered up or stripped to the waist and glistening with sweat, DAF looked as they sounded, all pumping muscle and sinew, the very physicality of their music upturning the then current cliché that equated electronics and alienation. DAF were the precursors of the Electronic Body Musics of Die Krupps and Nitzer Ebb, while their musical reductionism gave Techno minimalists the courage to pare music back to beats and atmospheres. Says Robert Görl, "A reunion of DAF was always in the air – it was only a matter of time." Feb 24, 09 | 11:24 am

I don't really get the DAF best of release. It represents two-thirds of the three 'classic' albums. Why not remaster them as a double cd package, so that the structure of the albums makes sense (so it doesn't start with a downbeat album-closer like Grief Nach Den Sternen)?
Maybe I've played the originals too many times... Feb 24, 09 | 11:43 am

It is a shame that the DAF re-issue offers so little for the committed fan. I had the opportunity to pick it up cheap at their London show, but couldn't see the need. Like AirCrashBureau, I have plenty of DAF already, including multiples of all tracks on there.
Incidentally, at the show, Nacht Arbeit got one of the best reactions from the audience, beaten only by Der Mussolini and Der Räuber Und Der Prinz. Apr 06, 09 | 11:55 am
